Thread: Mini Mafia - Town victory! [October 13th]

Just so you know, I'm going to be away from 10/4 ~ 10/6 on a school trip

Confirmed.

And that's everyone. Day 1 will start later today when the host will be back from school.

The inhabitants of Republic Town, last faction of resistance for the Flying, Ground and Water types, reunited in the central park, knowing that there were representatives of the Fire-type Nation among them. To find and kill these traitors was their mission; for the fire-types, it was to slowly but surely weaken the town by making them think that they were one of them and turning them against one another. If they could defeat them, they would be greeted as heroes back home. If they failed, being captured and sent to a Pokémon casino to be used as prizes would be their fate.

It is now Day 1. With 9 alive, it takes 5 to lynch.

Apologies if this is superfluous; I saw no posts here within the last 4 hours:

No one claims unless you are a power role and about to be lynched. Even then be aware of the possibility of mafia claiming a power role that is not present in this game. Otherwise: don't claim. Claiming only limits the options for the mafia. Don't even claim blue -- that makes it easier for the mafia to find the power role (for there must be at least one) that exists.

We have three days to hash out a lynch. If you're worried about getting lynched Day 1, get over it. Town will lose automatically if you do nothing. It takes 5 votes to lynch today. Turns out that voting people randomly has never worked as a strategy to drive discussion.

And aren't there only 2 mafiosi out of 9 players?

As a courtesy, I won't be available this Friday and most of Saturday -- the 5th and 6th. Should be back Saturday night. I'm visiting University of Michigan.

Seems to me that only 2 people wouldn't make a very effective mafia...and didn't Zenax list 3 mafia roles in the OP when he said what roles would be in the game? But I agree - random voting will do none of us any good.

That's why I'll Vote: Midorikawa. I'm not much of a gambler, and as such I don't like to play the odds, and unless I'm completely mistaken, that's exactly what's going on.

Other observation: considering Nick's established position on activity, him being away for a couple days says to me that he's more than likely innocent. With only a 2 or 3 person mafia, none of them can really afford to miss even one or two phases.

I'm also going to announce that I won't be around all of Saturday and Sunday and probably most of Monday - I will be preparing for/participating in/cleaning up after a wedding. I swear that I was going to be announcing this tonight anyway and had no idea that Nick was going to make a similar declaration of absence, nor did I plan on using that to prove my own innocence.

Right, so when I read the first part of this quote, my thoughts were this: What the hell kind of logic is that? He is going to be back just in time for the Night phase and he has voted and has done some serious work to try and make sure people don't do stupid lynches, he's also limited the amount of time in which he can scum tell. I really really really don't see why this would make him likely innocent and in fact my thoughts were that if one of you were lynched and flipped scum, then the first person I'd be going for would be the other.

Second part of this quote: Oh, so she's just saying this so that her own absence works as a good cover for her? Right, I see. Explaining why an absence makes you innocent (which is ridiculous) and then immediately announcing your own absence sounds like you're trying to establish your own innocence even if you say you're not. For those of you who think the fact that Feli is away over the entire Night phase makes her innocent, think again. If she is the Mafia Goon, her scum buddy could post both the kill and the investigation without her having to be there. All she'd have to do is be there to arrange who they are going to kill and investigate (which she'll have plenty of time to do before Saturday).


SO, my top FOSs so far (in no particular order) are Feliciano and Neon Borealis. Neither really strong enough for me to feel the need to throw on a vote at this early stage (though I am tempted to see who would BW) but these are my thoughts.

I just did a random vote to get some discussion going and it looks like it worked. I agree with G-mama FoS. Phoenicks and Neon Borealis said random voting was a no go here yet they jumped on creating a bandwagon of my vote. Voting puts pressure so it's always a good way for info

Good god, are you guys actually INSANE?!

We have 3 days to flesh out the vote. This isn't a normal game where the phase is guaranteed to last 3 days - as soon as a majority is reached (in this case 5 votes), the phase will end. It's reckless to vote this early without good reason.

Anyway, as far as Phoenicks and Feliciano go, I don't care if they're inactive. If they can't defend themselves, touch luck. Tbh, I'm pretty peeved they've done this to begin with, since with a game like this, we NEED activity and they're only hurting us by depriving us of information.

and then Feliciano said that she'd be away for a couple of days. The implication there is she's doing exactly the same thing she's said all-but-clears Phoenicks, and I'm not okay with that, as she's basically all-but-clearing herself. I'm probably not getting my point across that well, but hopefully, you get what I'm saying.

Also, stop with mentioning people to "defend" themselves. It's their fault if they're not checking the thread every time they log on, and if they're not online in the first place, mentioning them isn't going to make it any quicker.

If I'm at school and am just popping on during a break to make sure I'm not going to get lynched I'm looking for mentions of me being voted with the possibility of being being the lynch then I know I need to defend myself as soon as possible. Not everyone has all the time in the world. Seems like a mafia thing to do so they can get a townie lynched without them having a chance to save themselves.

You shouldn't need a mention to check the thread is the point I'm trying to make - if you have time to get on Bulbagarden, then the mafia game should take priority over other things. That's the commitment you make when you sign up, not "I'm only going to check if I'm being lynched". :/

Monday and Wednesday I have ten minutes between my Bio and Italian class. That gives me enough time for one post while I'm walking up four flights of stairs. If I don't see anything important then I'm not going into my subscribed threads, instead I'm exiting off and not checking any threads at that moment because I always have a lot.
