The way the Dark Lord's words curled around his name caused Neville to stiffen. He held his wand firmly aloft, but even then he knew it was useless. "Yes, what's it to you?" He had to keep himself calm, even though he knew that death was imminent.

"Your blood is pure. I could find use in you. As you have probably heard, the majority of my deputies are dead."

"No way in hell," spat Neville, never blinking, keeping his eyes trained on Voldemort's. "I will never, ever turn my back on my friends."

The Dark Lord gave an amused smile, and twitched his wand once more.

Just say you will join him. You know you want to. Lower your wand and bow.

Neville could feel the Dark Lord's normally insurmountable mind press over his. He could feel his arm jerk and his back yield, but he was not yet in a bowing position, not yet submissive. A voice grew in the back of his brain, small first, but grew louder still. "Don't give in to him."

"I won't," cried Neville triumphantly, having broken free from the Imperius Curse. He'd won.

"You won't, will you? Then die!" The Killing Curse left the Dark Lord's lips and green light flew from his wandtip.

Neville shut his eyes; in the instance before death, he still would not give in.

Zenax, a member of Dumbledore's Army, has been killed.

"There are all kinds of courage,' said Dumbledore, smiling. 'It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends. I therefore award 10 points to Mr. Neville Longbottom."
