vote: Hellion, in BMGF mafia 2; LOL, I remember him pulling off seemingly hax predictions and risks during that game leaving the mafia just blown out of their minds XD I believe this is when many mafia players started using the "invisible mode."

vote: Phoenicks, in general. Whenever I was on the same side as him, he usually devises these elaborate courses of actions whenever things get sticky.

Still feeling betrayed by Coasting Wingull's spy role in Ryuu's Falconwing, Lizz closed herself a bit more this game but even still, she came out helping the town out in a really big way. Determined to figure out the town on her own and not entirely trusting of my role, she implemented a role switch on me and Hellion that brought about some major shifts that threw mafia off balance. Single handedly she determined I was innocent and Hellion was mafia and she discovered sourcandy's innocence as well. Despite her feelings, she still cooperated when she had her full trust in our roles and continued to be a worthy town player keeping her contacts in the shadows. A strong town player is one that is cooperative, but shows caution jumping into the unknown and lizz exemplifies that.

I gotta say, I absolutely loved the ruse you played on the town, giving yourself up and playing 'innocent' by confessing your role. Between you and Yoshi, it worked so incredibly well that you managed to shake a few people off your back from voting you. I was quite impressed by that show and even though it didn't keep you around as long as you would have liked, I always loved your good spirits afterwards.

It's hard to gauge the true beauty of a role when it's supposed to be concealed for most of the game. In Ghaskan's case, most of her role was concealed from her from the start so she had to work extra hard to make that beauty shine. Through the course of play, she brilliantly made several appropriate, improbable actions that slowly upgraded her role into full out berserker role that dominated the latter half of the game. In full force, she tore out the remaining mafia and almost took out the rest of the town too. On top of that, she made the role her own by fully roleplaying a character she wasn't even completely familiar with. It was fun to watch her bring life to an independent role that could have easily gone nowhere, an unfortunate fate of many other independent roles.

This one is also a tough decision. There are two players I felt quite deserving of this award, but in the end I go with Gible for his solid show of humility. Every time we've played with or against each other there is an unspoken mutual respect shared; that above all competition, we are simply playing a game. I've respected his play style and I've seen him close every game humbly, walking away learning something new and taking all experiences in stride.

Sourcandy, I love your off the wall, haphazard approach to mafia games. I find your style a charming random assortment of activity, going into odd voting patterns, often times voting yourself, but it's still a part of play that detracts from the often serious tone of the game. I appreciate that a lot and I always love what you add to a game.

It's so tough to single out one strategic player of the many talented individuals we have here. Mafia revolves around strategy, so naturally we'll have many to showcase their talents any time we play a game. However, I must give this one to Gible. And this covers every instance, even in games I haven't played. You're always thinking multiple steps ahead and figuring out the best techniques to use your role to its fullest. In BMGf mafia, your strategy at keeping me and the rest of the mafia on our toes by keeping us from killing you while keeping the town from killing you was an amazing play. In subsequent mafia, you always carry a plan that navigates not only your own roles but other players as well much like a true chessmaster manages their pieces through a game. You're an incredible asset to any side you belong to.

I liked where Solaris was going with speeches in Avatar. I remember him making generally large text walls, but they were wholly sound arguments that were well constructed. Seeing as he was the largest threat to our side in that game, I saw it as fortuitous to have him on 'our side' as locking horns with him would have turned out only terrible for us as it did with Gible in BMGf mafia. I made a few comments in our mafia quicktopic about how I saw his potential and how I liked what he did for town. Even if the town didn't make it out in that game, I respect his talent for stimulating discussion, arguing against certain actions and even continuing to challenge his allies the whole game through, especially in a game where he wasn't as familiar the player base to start.

I love the complexity of the roles Mizzle brings to mafia. On top of that, he always keeps everything well connected and vibrant with a simple, straight forward plot. Having Dutch phrases as a 'unique signature' was a small, but much appreciated detail that made counterfeiting a role so much harder. Mizzle also keeps his games fresh, changing the format or continually updating roles from game to game. It always seems fresh and Mizzle's games will always be appreciated for that.

I loved the non serious spin in this game, it was frankly a breath of fresh air that I enjoyed. Enlightening the mood is a component that can easily go overlooked when hosting a game, but if done well, it helps continue to stimulate interest and keep players from stressing out. Without BMGf, we wouldn't have a War Room to speak of. In my eyes, even if the roles may seem standard or 'simple' compared to the way we play games now, Mizzle created a landmark game that helped inspire and define all games after it. His wasn't the first mafia we've ever had, but it was the one that stimulated the most interest in mafia on our forums, enough to create even more games and eventually this section. For that I think it's only fitting to recognize the game that started it all for this season's awards.

When I first saw Falconwing's premise, I admit I was a bit skeptical. I'm not one to read many fanfics but I admit, I really liked the quick synopsis Ryuu started off with at the start of his game. I also loved how Ryuu threw a twist into what is considered as 'standard' bad guy mafioso by making his protagonists into the 'mafia' while turning the opposition into 'townies.'

As the game progressed, I became enamored with the depth of the characters and the back story. By the end, I was wholly satisfied with the solid world Ryuu had built around his own work of fiction, transcribed into mafia form. My only regret is not getting into the second round, but I earnestly look forward to the third installment, whenever. [No rush Ryuu]
