Re: What is the difference between love and infatuation(as well as lust)?
I like to think of it like this. Love is where you feel your souls are connected, that you would die for them, do anything for them. You would sever the ties of an evil god to bring your love back from death, brave a new land just to find her, put your trust in them. Lust basically means hand me some lube and tissues.
Re: What is the difference between love and infatuation(as well as lust)?
infatuation: Desire for happiness in yourself in a short term take relationship.
love: Desire for happiness in both parties in a long term give take relationship.
*infatuations can grow into love
Re: What is the difference between love and infatuation(as well as lust)?
I've always considered infatuation to be intense (moreso than simple attraction or a crush), yet fleeting, whereas love is intense and lasting.
That said, there's also the fact while love can mean different things in different contexts (romantic, sexual, friendly, familial), infatuation is only really a term used with regards to romantic feelings.
Re: What is the difference between love and infatuation(as well as lust)?
Infatuation: I always thought of it to be explosive and sudden desire for someone driven by hormones to in the end satisfy your own happiness.
Love: Long lasting, directed to someone you know very well, puts the other ahead of yourself and will motivate you to move heaven and earth for them for their happiness because them being happy makes you happy.
Re: What is the difference between love and infatuation(as well as lust)?
Lust and infatuation are different, I think. I've always seen lust as something that's pretty non-committal; basically, you find that person hot, and you think you might like to sleep with them, and it doesn't necessarily go any deeper than that. Infatuation is a much stronger fixation with that particular person, and usually your desires go beyond the merely physical.
Basically, like, if I see a hot guy or gal walking down the street and think "Yeah, I'd bang him/her" that's lust. If I find myself obsessively thinking about that person (which, um, creepy if I've never met them, but I digress), that's infatuation.
Neither of them are love, but they are still different.
