Not to mention even if they're big blood thirsty predators they still look like big lovable balls of fur like domestic cats do.
I love birds too, they're one of my favourite types of animals. It's amazing how some of them can be so timid and tiny while others are big and violent. And ah, felines are definitely a big time favourite of mine. Tigers are especially great, though I also like lions and panthers. And who doesn't love a furry fuzzball, right?

The ocean can be pretty fearsome, but the animals inhabiting it are just great. ;w; I'm not too fond of sharks, but whales and dolphins are both really unique and interesting. Fish are pretty cool too.

Mm, jellyfish are very nice creatures. Have you by any chance ever heard of an upside-down jellyfish? Just look at this thing:

Nope, first time I've seen that.

Jellyfish are pretty weird, they look like something out of a sci-fi film rather than something that actually lives on Earth.

It's interesting that they don't have any brains, or even, any specialized digestive/circulatory/respiratory systems yet they have all the tools to hunt their prey. Box jellyfish are among the most venomous of all the jellyfish, if I remember correctly.

Yup, really poisonous, I've seen the affects of people being stung by them, huge red marks on the body.

They're basically just water, like 97% or something, I think that is just amazing, these creatures are so complex and interesting and there isn't that much difference between them and a glass of water :p

I remember reading about a jellyfish which is actually clusters of other smaller jellyfish that act as different parts of the jellyfish, I'll need to find it again.

@maria; pretty sure that you're talking about "Portuguese Man-Of-War". Each 'component' relies on each other so much that they can't survive on their own. (Wiki article)

Yup that's the one. Technically not a jellyfish because it's not a single organism, it's a colony, but I think that's really interesting.

My friend sent me this last night and I feel I'm going to have to share it here.

I love sloths, especially the baby ones. Their life is so easygoing and lazy that I almost envy it. Did you know that baby sloths sometimes grab their own limbs thinking they were branches and fall out of a tree? Adorable.

I absolutely hate Hellgrammites (a.k.a. Dobsonflies).

These things only fly around at night and they're either super silent or super loud. They grow to about 5 inches. So.. 5 inches of death, stealthily flying at your face in the dark.
Fun fact: tennis rackets are great for knocking them out of the air, but they'll just get right back up so make sure you have time to run

Seems every place has its own version of the "big fucking bug". Down here that would probably be the horse fly, but if I had to pick something more unique I'd go with these big-ass yellow-and-orange grasshoppers that show up in the Summer. Nasty little creatures.

That's its habitat range, so ya'll have them down in Florida too. Surprisingly we don't have them here in Illinois, even though it's in the middle of the whole range. I first ran into them in Texas, and I'm pretty sure they were bigger than 5 inches. Then again, it's Texas, so anything goes.

Oh, and if the adults weren't bad enough, they're not any better as kids. Thankfully they live underwater at this stage.
