The thing that really rustles my jimmies is the fact that people will be all about how they've “lost their faith in humanity” when one anecdote about a person doing something bad is posted, but when I post about an awesome achievement or discovery it goes virtually ignored. It seems as though people are looking for excuses to hate themselves.

I've noticed there indeed are people who just want to hate themselves, and like the fact that they can hate themselves, and trying to disprove those reasons to comfort them will only cause them to find new reasons to hate themselves. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of those people go to the sad stories there so they can hate humanity and by extension themselves.
