Hi, I'm Rose. I love music, alcohol, pointless Internet debates and being a snob about my choices in entertainment. I write a lot. You can read some of my writing at Autostraddle.com, the best site for LBTQ women on the Internet, where I am a staff writer. Or the funhouse that is my tumblr. I also write music sometimes, and post the better fruits of my labors on my SoundCloud.

Also jam bands that spend 17 minutes on the same three chords.
But really, any music is going to sound better and more "profound" when you're stoned. It's the state of mind that also causes people at the club to shout "This is my JAAAAAAAM!!!!" when the DJ puts on some random Rihanna song they heard at a grocery store once and didn't completely hate.
Not that I've ever done this.

From the way they talk about it, those classes are akin to journeys to Mordor. It's almost like a boastful sort of complaining. I even avoid some people because that's literally all they do in their spare time.
I think many students here think that what they do is vastly more important than other areas of study, they just don't have the balls to say it. My roommate is an exception, he's constantly deriding people he knows that aren't mechanical engineering students. He even laughed at me when I told him the classes I was taking this semester :l

It is true that there are a lot of introductory science/math classes that are ridiculously hard just to weed out people who picked pre-med/engineering/whatever to impress their parents or make lots of money, but aren't really that great at it. (Or they think they're good because they were good at math in high school, but college math is different. Etc.)
I should know, my undergrad was Johns Hopkins. Which is most famous for having one of the best medical schools in the country. Let's just say there are a lot more people who come in there pre-med than who come out.

Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj r liek the gr8test musicianz ever. ppl r alwayz sayin they ruined music but it's more better than queen nirvana and teh beetles combined #YOLO
Yeah, well, they're engineering students. I live and study with them, math is a tool, not the art that it really is. I have no plans on studying higher mathematics, but even I can realize the beauty and diversity of mathematics, and having a good understanding of the concepts I'm working with is favorable.
A lot of engineers just want to shove numbers into a formula and get an answer.

Oh, I still love those last three bands when I'm drunk/stoned. It's just that I'm way better at tolerating the stuff in the beginning of your comment.
It's more that the ways in which they're different aren't particularly embarrassing and obvious. I'm definitely hilariously goofy and loud IRL when I'm drunk, but because I still have fairly good spelling and grammar when I'm drunk, people on the Internet don't necessarily notice.
