I haven't tried absinthe, maybe once I'll try it. But I'm in no rush :p

This will be interesting ;_;

You just need to know when you've had enough, when to say no. If after one or two drinks you think you've had enough, you're right, and just drink soft drinks/water from then on. remember to eat with your drinks if you don't want to get drunk quickly.
Have a great time :) hell, report back with your experience :)

Amaretto, now there's a good drink. Always loved its fruity flavor, but if there ever was a light drink that would be it. I was wondering, what's everyone's preferred brand for certain drinks? For me its-
Whiskey- Jim Bean or Daniels. I can't stand Johnny unless its the limited Double Black, and I am never going to afford a bottle of blue. Maker Mark is kind of an import, but I would love to have a reserve.
Rum- Havana Club. Bacardi is good for Mojito's and that's it.
Vodka- Stolichnava or Absolut. I rarely go for grey goose, only if my pocket allows it.
Tequila- Cuervo of course.

I sure was funner back then, possibly even stupider....

@Chespin; Yay amaretto! It is my favorite liqueur. Of course, I love almond-flavored anything.
I also love that Malibu coconut-flavored rum shit. I feel like those two combined could make a good Almond-Joy-inspired cocktail.
I think what people forget (including me, sometimes) is there is no such thing as not being drunk enough. There is definitely a such thing as being too drunk.

That's what my friends have told me, the ones who have gotten drunk before and know when to say it's enough. I'm kind of anxious about it, I won't deny :P it's something really new to me and it makes me wonder if I'll be able to handle it or not. I've seen some really bad drunken people and it'd make me feel horrible if I was one of those people who couldn't handle their drinks and would be the sad/angsty type of drunk person :/ Oh well, I guess I have to try to see what happens, right?
And of course I shall! :D

@Innocence; What I'd recommend is to try it in a controlled environment, i.e., surrounded by people you know and trust.
Don't do it at a party full of randos where you don't know if they'd be smart enough to rush you to the hospital if you get dangerously drunk (which hopefully won't happen, but since you're worried, it's something you want to control for).
If it makes you feel better, I'm someone who comes from a family full of hardcore drunks and alcoholics, and I'm generally pretty good at controlling my drinking. Sometimes these things skip a generation. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't be worried if you're in a similar situation.

Oh no worries man, I'll be alone with my friend at his house and I trust him very much, so I'm pretty sure I won't encounter any major problems whatsoever. He knows what to do and has already told me that he'll water me down if I really can't handle the bottle, which will most likely happen :P thank you for being considerate!

If anything, try drinking on your own at home if you can. Parents went for a trip out of town for the weekend, and I decided to get drunk alone to see how I would handle it. Surprisingly I didn't kill myself, so I'm pretty confident to say that after two stupid booze related activities I can handle myself intoxicated pretty damn well.
