Your Forum Persona
The gratification of the internet is unsurprisingly boundless. There's an elusive charm to this network of local gateways. Truly, we have a disturbing intimacy with it -- one that is laced with instant glory and artificial fame.
On the internet, you are whoever you want to be. All that restricts you is your imagination. Here, the tools of creativity are unlimited; We have the resources to be intelligent, the time to think about what is said, and the anonymity to be someone else.
So, I ask you: who are you on the internet, on this forum? Does this person represent who you are in real life, or are you the majority of the internet that lies, poses -- that is perfect? If not, are there at least minor things you change about yourself on the internet?
This topics demands serious, sincere answers. All stupid posts will be fed to the dogs.

Re: Your Forum Persona
I think I stay true to myself on here. I'm a lot more open here than in real life though. I'm really shy to people I don't that I can trust.
-
Re: Your Forum Persona
I mostly try to be myself here. Im a bit more friendly and outgoing, but other than that I dont try to be somebody else.
-
Re: Your Forum Persona
Mostly, I'm the same here as in real like, except for the fact that I'm a bit more comfortable with going and talking to new people. I've begun talking to two Bulbapedians without a good excuse (and by that I mean at least the level you have with the people at the same table in your classes). So yeah, an increased ability to try to make friends with people I see around is the one substantial difference between Bulbagarden's Iron Defense and real life's Iron Defense.

Re: Your Forum Persona
I'm much more comfortable and I'm at ease when I'm here.
-
Re: Your Forum Persona
Just what most other people have said..... I'm probably a bit more open and friendly online then I am in real life, although I generally try and be the same person that I am in real life.

Re: Your Forum Persona
Annoying bastard like everywhere else.
-
Re: Your Forum Persona
I'm socially adept in real life, have quite a few responsibilities on my shoulders and deal with a fair amount of stress. So I come here mostly to goof off and lurk. You won't see me posting in threads that demand intelligent discussion, only in Fun&Games and occasionally in BCCT. But just as in real life, I'm still cynical, skeptical and don't go out of my way to be likable. I'm only here for teh lulz.

Re: Your Forum Persona
I act more outgoing than I do IRL, but other than that I'm pretty much the same.
-
Re: Your Forum Persona
Yeah, like others have said, I'm more outgoing and friendly here. I wouldn't say that otherwise I'm the same, though. I'm a hell of a lot more depressing in real life...
-
Re: Your Forum Persona
I'm mostly true to myself. Mostly. Making up personae and alter egos are too much work.
-
Re: Your Forum Persona
I'm pretty much the same. I think my speech pattern's a bit different though in real life. Much more informal.
-
Re: Your Forum Persona
I'm almost exactly the same as I am in real life, except:
- The very nature of a message board is interacting with complete strangers / addressing many people at once... I would not be very likely to do that in real life. Even in a group setting.
- I can respond to debates / discussions better online than in person because I don't have to rely on memory as to what's been said... I can just scroll to a previous post and re-read it and know exactly what that person said in order to respond to it (in real life if I forget what the person said or if I misheard him then I'm pretty much out of luck). Also I'm not in as much of a hurry to respond, so my answers can be more clear / precise

Re: Your Forum Persona
I would say I'm the person I want to be when I'm here. To sum it up, I'm slightly more outgoing and comfortable talking about myself.

Re: Your Forum Persona
I'm kinda the same here as I am irl, but like others I am a little more outgoing here. It's easier to strike up a conversation with a random person here, cause you can easily see their interests based on their avatars/posts, and it seems easier to get along with people too.
