I can vouch for Kendo's awesomeness as well.

If you're no longer interested in beating people up, then yes, it is what you need. I'll edit this post later, or make a new post with a bunch of links to websites with different martial arts (since you can't watch youtube videos). Keep in mind that there are many martial arts that say they focus on strengthening the person spiritually, and there are many martial arts that focus on redirecting the opponent's energy. Also, everyone who does a martial art is going to be biased towards theirs, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't.
...But I am pretty sure that kendo is cooler than TKD because

Endermen can't go through doors stupid, it's not ghosts or fire.
You know what?
Now that I remember what Kendo is, it may prove to be a good choice...
This is because my cousins likes a sport called "Melee" (from the best of my knowledge), of which is recreating medivial time battles with home-made foam weapons.
(Oriental weapons are allowed too.)
I don't think I'd be allowed to use a bamboo sword, but I should be able to use a foam samurai sword (once my cousin finds the best way to make them) in the same way... (no head shots, though.)
Well, not completely the same... foam samurai swords won't bend like bamboo swords...
Oh, I betcha he can make a foam kendo-style sword!
That should be easy!

You'd be much better off learning to use your body than learning to use a weapon as an extension of your body. You can't carry a weapon with you for self-defense at all times.

Wing Chun or boxing.
What is Wing Chun? (remember this computer is not up to snuff to watch youtube videos...)
Not randomly, that is.
When running & peaceful negotations fail, then it's time to rumble.
(I'll only worry about that when or IF the time comes.)
For now, I'm looking for a form of recreation.
Because of the form of recreation I'll be doing more in the summer, when I see my cousins more, Kendo should be greatly helpful... it won't give training for all sorts of weapons, but it'll develop my speed & footwork.
Strength is not improtant, for the goal of Melee is to let them know they've been hit by using impact, not hurting them. But strength would help in using larger weapons, should I want to use one...
Wing chun is a style of kung fu. If you can find a legitimate dojo, that would be pretty cool too.
Well in kendo we wear armor, so we hit pretty hard. Also, the head is the primary target, so I don't know how much that's really going to help you. The first couple months you'll probably be exclusively doing cuts to the head. Not randomly, that is.
