Why do people care when characters are replaced? Their run is complete and new kids grow up with their specific generation.
The original trio was never in a million years going to see the light of day after Johto, ever.

Maybe because people developed deep feelings of attatchment to specific characters? Or maybe it's because certain characters didn't get enough development in their run, or maybe they got lackluster sendoffs perhaps?
Anyways, I don't think those complaints are that common anymore, unless it's post DP Brock hype.... Anyways, umm the orginal trio did have a couple of reunions in AG...I wouldn't consider that "never seeing the light of day" in that sense...

- Satoshi/Ash Ketchum: 765 episodes
- Team Rocket: 706 episodes
- Takeshi/Brock: 630 episodes
- Kasumi/Misty: 280 episodes
- Hikari/Dawn: 201 episodes
- Haruka/May: 197 episodes
- Masato/Max: 192 episodes
- Iris: 108 episodes
- Dent/Cilan: 104 episodes
- Kenji/Tracey: 43 episodes
I mean, the fact that all of them were reunited again after Johto counts as a reunion to me. May and Max being there was a given, and a minor detail because they were still Ash's traveling companions at the time...Misty didn't have to be alone with Ash and Brock to consider it a real reunion because no one was expecting them to dump May and Max just for Misty's cameo.
We still never saw the original trio for even a single episode back together since the end of Johto. The writers purposely made sure not to do it.
Also back in BF, anyone wonder why they didn't visit Cerulean
gym? They visited Pewter.
Who is in the original cast for pokemon? Ash Misty and Brock.
Did these three ever appear again after the slpit in Johto in the same place at the same time? Yes. Period, point blank. Nothing else matters.
And there wasn't really a point to go to Cerulean...Misty was only there to guide Ash towards the Battle Factory because it was near Cerulean, there was no need to go there.
I think it was because the Battle Pyramid was there.
So it wasn't a true reunion then. May being there negated the "trio."
It's odd to think AG134 was Misty's last appearance in the anime besides
mentions.
It doesn't really make much difference if May was there or not. I've already explained why. There were plenty of people who considered Ash and Brock the only remaining members of the original trio, even while they were traveling with May and Max, or Dawn, so it doesn't matter. I still consider it a reunion.
I don't see why that bothers people so much, or makes people want to refute it so badly.
The writers phase out the old for the new. Why Brock lasted as long as he did is a mystery in itself.
And they've proven time and time again they have no issues bringing back old characters for guest apperances or mini arcs. Sorry to burst your hate parade.
Yeah, for very brief episodes.
Out of 450+ episodes, Misty has only ever re-appeared for 5 episodes and a few specials.
Out of 220 episodes, May has only ever re-appeared for 4 episodes.
Gary has re-appeared a grand total of about 5 times since the end of Johto.
Yeah...we see so MUCH of Misty, May and Gary since they left. Because 4-5 episodes out of 400+ is so much.
So? The point is that they've come back and I see no reason why they won't continue to do so. Just because they didn't appear for a 100 episode arc doesn't make them unimportant.
Misty's total absence in the DP series, and probably May and Dawn's in Best Wishes, shows how little they need to show them.
Misty's last appearance in an episode was back in 2005 in mid-AG. Do you realize how long ago that was? I'm also betting neither May or Dawn will appear in Best Wishes at all.
