Thread: Do you like Cilan/Dent's role in BW?

I've never really liked Cilan.
I've been with the story since the beginning, and I've always liked Brock. I think he failed in character in DP, and it was definitely his time to leave.
But I just don't think Cilan was a great choice. He does fill in for Brock pretty well, but I can't stand his character. While Brock had his gimmick, Cilan is kind of overdone. It's good to throw in his episodes, but it seems like he specializes in everything. And after watching the episode from today, it just seems to get worse. Every time he spoke, it was a reference to food. I think that I get it, he comes from a restaurant. I just think his gimmick dried out really fast.

I want to see some more back story and screen time for Cilan, at first I never did like his character, but as time went on.......he became one of the many reasons why I started watching Pokemon Anime again. Cilan is sweet, a gentleman, a 5-star cook, humble, calm, and collected. And I love every little thing he does. I also like his brothers Chili and Cress, I feel they need waaaay more love as well. He is one of my favorite characters in the current anime.

Just like how Barry and Palmer (although Palmer only appeared in like maybe 2 episodes? DX) made me like the DP Saga in its time. I still love them although the DP series is over now. I still want to know more about Palmer and Barry's back story.

His Crustle is quite a force, apart from that, he is at least funnier than Brock.... Babbling may be boring sometimes, but it can also be fun!

He's boring, not to mention a Mary-Sue. They spent more time making him into a ________ Connoisseur (can't spell) than actually making a good character.

I love Cilan's character. I think he's hilarious and makes the boring eps fun with his eccentric flamboyance and bishounen tendencies. :D

Only thing I don't like about him is the (insert profession here) connoisseur stuff the writers insist he calls himself. -_-

Cilan is my favourite of Ashs companions! I love when he wants to watch trains in the first of the train two-parter.
His pokemons are good to. Just wishing that Pansage could evolve.

Out of the three BW protagonists, I like Cilan the best. He makes me hungry every time I listen him, but I like him for that, he is a very memorable character. Although I don't like him being a Everything-Sommelier since it seems to be too much expertise for only one person...
