DP is better after all the bullshit i ve seen in BW i have to say its garbage complete garbage the writers screwed up any chance of ash having a diverse team by giving him every starter.Iris is annoying and a horrible dragon trainer and contradicts herself,i prefer brock over cilan,trip is borefest,bel is a good character but a horrible rival,who care about kenyan,team rocket is ruined,all the crap ive seen in ashes gym battles like that one with brycen really why didnt brycens beartic know ice beam like wth

Too hard to choose between these two. DPs strong points are definitely the overall plot focusing on tensions (like Ash and Paul's rivalry) and overall character development. BW, on the other hand, introduced us Cilan and the episodes without Team Rocket – the Episode N arc will show, if the writers can turn this "mess" into a fine-working story line where everything has a meaning.

IMO DP wins.
DP had awesome battles and a lot of maturity and development from Ash. The writers gave Ash a good team. However, DP had too many fillers and Contest episodes. Dawn as a character was bland (and had the worst voice in the history of the Pokemon dub). Piplup and Infernape were given too much attention for my liking. Paul had great battles, but his personality was gimmicky.
BW is hands down the worst saga of the anime. The battles are mostly stock footage. The plots are recycled and writers abandoned all the development Ash got in DP. Boring running gags have become the main source of humor, while the Team Rocket trio has been reduced to a generic team of villains.

With DP other than rushed a couple instances of rushed development isn't much complete screw ups but there is tons of wall bangers in BW. Trip beating Ash in the first episode, Emolga suddenly obeying Iris, the fourth gym battle, the entire Skyla plot, over abundance of mid battle evos wins and disadvantage wins making them completely meaningless now, the 8th gym battle, Iris making a big deal out of nothing in the Dragonite capture episode(I think I have to explain this one: IT WOULDN'T DIE Pokemon get beat up and captured all the time and it still had the power to fend off the Magnemite and regardless of whether or not it is guilty it is still preventing people from getting power including the pokemon center) and most of Trip's team being used ONCE. All from head in mere moments without any checking.

I'm still sorry guys but I still think that DP is still better than what's happening now. Best Wishes is a series that seems like it should have took place after Orange Islands. Never after DP.
1. Because gymleader/gymleader wannabes have actual development better than what was in Johto. Personalites are better.
2. Pokemon over all are better. Ash is still smarter in BW than back in Kanto.
3. League sucks but still better than Kanto's.
4. Faster paced saga, less fillers which is a good thing and plus rivals are given to everyone even though some suck.
5. Pikachu still has been over used and has had problems but never this bad back in DP.
Best Wishes seems more of a 'kanto done better' saga. I still can't see why someone decided to go so backwards in some of the things they had from before. I understand the whole kid aspect of the show but I know some kids who had watched DP and says of how weird it was watching BW. It felt as if though someone lost their job in the writers room or something.

DP is better than BW 100% no competition.
There are many reasons for this that it would take me all night but since I don't have hours and hours to waste going trough every episode to find all the reasons here are just a few very big ones:
-Ash getting "Rebooted" (Yes I'm still angry about that)
-Pikachu getting the most noticeable power drop yet
-Ash winning badges because of DEM
-Ash losing every tournament he enters including the league
-The whole "There are no Pre gen V pokemon in Unova"
-Team rocket becoming "Serious" (I wouldn't have minded this if they actually won every now and then)
-Brock leaving (Yes I think Brock is better than Cilan)
-Ash's STARTERS not evolving (I know tepig did but just one of them evolved once and tepig is the worst starter ever IMO)
-Iris existing (I could write a 1000 word essay on why I hate Iris but I'll just say a few main things:Dragonite,her character as a whole,calling Ash a "Kid"(Yes this),lack of interesting story,the whole dragon master thing,Axew. . . . )I could go on and explain some of these things better but you should get the point by now. And I also think she is THE WORST traveling companion ever (Including Tracey).
-Ash's Unova pokemon either being a pokemon I hate (Leavanny,Boldore,Unfezant,Scraggy,Pignite) Or never evolving(Not counting Pikachu or Krookodile) or not getting proper development or training episodes (Palpitoad,Snivy). They were just very badly handled in this whole series.
-Ash getting a worse rank in a league than the last region (I think they should have either than the bullshit thing and make him top 4 again or REALLY give him a rank he deserves (Looking at his pokemon and battling skills I'd say top 32-16).
-The way Ash's rivals are treated(I could go on about Trip losing in the first round and Ash not battling Bianca but I won't.
OK that's enough I can think of more but this should be enough to very clearly explain why DP is better than BW so I think I'll stop now.

Truthfully DP could have been the climax of the entire show. The only thing BW will hopefully wrap up is Team Rocket and Giovanni.

BW is better than DP, it's better paced, has better Team Rocket (to add to that, Team Plasma seems better handled than Team Galactic was so far), better trio chemistry, and better characters overall. It's also trying new things, as opposed to DP's same-old, same-old.

I failed to see that Team Rocket is better handled too, they simply fail their missions as always, then jetpack away instead of blasting off.
New things? Tell me whats new.

DP did a number of things that nobody expected to happen in the show. Just because it kept the Ash + Contest girl + Brock/TR formula doesn't mean there wasn't plenty of new and unique stuff.

If you'd read my original post, you may see why I prefer BW. Also, I don't recall you asking for an example of how BW is better.
E: If you were referring to "what's new", then I was referring to how it doesn't stick strictly to the typical formula.
