Gotta vote Iris here. I honestly think she's the one who needs to show more maturity. At times you just can't help thinking that the real "such a kid" is Iris and not Ash.

Exactly. I get it's her character and all, but hearing it over and over again gives it the edge in the annoying department. I swear it feels like I hear Iris saying "You're such a kid." more times than "No need to worry." in the same episode length.

The way Dawn raises her pitch midway through the catchphrase is pretty annoying. Regardless, Iris' "Are you Okay?" in the Japanese version is tolerable.

Both are annoying. Catch-phrases in general are annoying.

In the dub both bother the hell out of me. Watching raw doesn't bother me at all though, probably since it's in a language I don't understand. Though daijoubu I hear other places so it's sorta helpful.

I wasn't speaking of her catchphrase, "Your such a kid". I was referring to Iris' "Daijoubou?" which translates to "Are you Okay?"

Iris's reasons for asking someone if they're okay are pure bull? Am I missing something here?
Dawn's "No need to worry" annoys me far more than "You're such a kid," btw. Iris is just joking around and doesn't mean anything by it. It's cute. When Dawn says hers, it's just so grating. The saying itself is really irritating because it's so unnecessary, and combined with the way Dawn's VA says it...I just find it really obnoxious.

I just find it obnoxious personally. I can't speak for everyone, it's just that Dawn's VA made it sound really irritating to me, and just the fact that she had to keep saying it got on my nerves.
I think it's pretty obvious Iris isn't being serious. It's in her character. She's a sweet girl with a tendency to tease people, and Ash just so happens to be the person she likes teasing. That's all it is. She's playing around. I think Ash would act much more offended by it if Iris were being serious.

No? thats just her being a karma houndini and smug.
Besides teasing someone about a weakness implies there is a weakness thus it is rude behavior. She is not sweet to me and she has the far more obnoxious VA IMO.
Striving for Independence and trying not to trouble your friends although is a weakness it's the best weakness to have because it shows you want to better one's self and you care about others.
I admit I would be someone to say both but the context Iris has is complete Tauros with a side of chill fries thus it is aggravating. But then again I'm sensitive like that.

*shrug* I feel differently, but that's your opinion and I'm not going to try and change it.

Hm. at times like this, I'm glad I don't bother with the dub. I don't know what Dawn even sounds like...nor do I know what dub Iris sounds like. For the original, I don't find either catchphrase annoying as I've never even thought twice about them, and find Iris' "Kodomo ne" amusing and funny because of how ironic it is that she says it when she's a kid herself. I've always liked ironic humor.
In the beginning Iris' irritated me because she would call out Ash just because he didn't know about things from a region he's visiting for the first time. Now I kind of find it funny, mainly because she doesn't just say that about Ash now.
Dawn's annoys me only because of the way she says it. She raises her pitch in the middle of it and it just irritates me.
I can tolerate "daijoubu" and "kodomo ne" a lot more than "no need to worry" and "what a kid" though.
Look Forward, Team Rocket!
Also I claim Piplup in the Claim a Pokemon thread =)
