    Default Favorite Movie Antagonist

Every movie has protagonists but let's not forget about the antagonists. Who is your favorite antagonist from the Pokemon movies and why?

Mine would be Molly Hale from the third movie. She's the only one that's driven by loneliness and sadness rather than lust for power or control, not to mention she's as cute as a button.

EDIT: I added a poll with all the human antagonists (minus Mewtwo). Please let me know if I'm missing anyone. :)

Does Molly even truly count as a villain?...

Anyways, my fave villain would be Kodai.

He's an all out douchebag, no redeeming qualities, tried to kill some random kids for no real reason other than that his selfish desires would be stopped by them.

He's what a real villain is, no stupid backstory to make us sympathize with him, no evil goal that he claims to be doing for the good of mankind, just pure evil

The question is about antagonists, not villains. ;)

An antagonist is basically just someone who opposes the protagonist, but doesn't necessarily have to have any of the traits typically associated with villainy.

To answer the original question, I'd probably have to go with Mewtwo (with honorable mention to Annie and Oakley from movie 5). He's an existentialist mutant desperately searching for his place in the world and I think, on some level, we can all relate to that.

I'd have said Kodai if his plans affected more than some eco-freaks (seriously, raise your hand if you actually care about Crown City's plants?).

So, my vote is going for Marcus (Arceus and the Jewel of Life). I mean come on, he tried to pour molton metal over god (well, Arceus)! That's some badassery right there.

Guess Zero. He is a stupid asshole but at least he appreciates Giratina and the distortion world.

The antagonists are actually one of the reasons I'm not as fond of the movies as most people. To tell the truth, I honestly find many of them, and their agendas, to be exceedingly irritating.

That said, since Molly is being counted by you guys, I'd say she was definately my favourite by far, mostly for the reasons Lavender addressed. She wasn't a bratty, irritating kid, but a very likable and sympathetic character. One that was unfortunately very lonely and by mere chance, was granted the ability to rid herself of that lonliness, or so she had assumed. Adding to that; since everything that hindered the protagonists throughout this movie were merely her own thoughts manifested as some sort of bizarre fantasy world, I'd say she wins for being the most interesting.

Second would be Phantom, solely because he was an angry pirate and an elderly guy who smashed rocks with his fists. Screw some long-winded, mysterious backstory and deep emotional turmoil, that's all the guy needed to be awesome.

Zero, because he likes Giratina as much as I do.

And I'm a sucker for demented, yet somewhat sympathetic characters. There's something about him that struck out to me more than the other characters ample shipping opportunities.

Honorable mention goes to the tree of life (or I suppose, its antibodies) in the Lucario movie :P

I like the man from Pokemon the movie 2000. But my favorites are Zero from Giratina and the Sky Warrior and Kodai from the Zoroark movie.
Also, I don't think he's a villian but the guy that turned into a Lickilicky in The Rise of Darkrai was pretty hilarious.

The DP ones are all my least favorite because of this reason. They tried to make them all serious and threatening villains, but most of them wound up as boring and incredibly dull.

It probably doesn't help matters that all their personalities are interchangeable.

Can I say the killer cubes in Destiny Deoxys?

I have to say my favorite Antagonist in the movies would have to be Butler. They gave him a reason for wanting revenge and such. I also like Zero a lot.

Iron Mask, Lawrence III and the pirate dude.

But I too really like Molly. So if she could count as a villain...

I can only speak for the ones I have seen, but when I saw Movie 4 I was really into that Iron-Masked Marauder guy. He seemed kind of cruel and intimidating (I still remember that part after Celebi is revived where it's flying around while that music plays and everyone's happy, and then he just pops out of the water and grabs Celebi by the throat to ruin the moment). Plus the idea of Dark Balls making Pokémon "evil" was a bit interesting to me.

But before that it had to be Mewtwo. Honestly, Pokémon the First Movie not only boosted my obsession with the Pokémon craze when it came out, but it even made me obsessed with Mewtwo for a long time as being one of my most favorite Pokémon. Then of course I eventually learned how he was really just a "confused soul-turned-antagonist" trying to find his place in life in the Japanese version, and when I say "eventually learned" I mean really learned, cause by this time it was much more clear to me than in the dub (especially with the Birth of Mewtwo backstory). I guess that aspect of Mewtwo was sort of there in the dub, but apparently 4Kids put so much emphasis on him wanting to destroy the world that I didn't fully see it the way I should have. Watching the original version really helped me see the character in a better light.

I also used to like Lawrence III in Movie 2 because... well, I just thought that flying airship thing was kind of cool.
