to suppose infernape has higher speed than the other, infernape attacks first....
his first move is stone edge, the best rock type he can learn,
so 100 X 2( for fire) X 2( for flying), and charizard resisting 400 damage....literally a joke....
my defense to my answer.....Infernape
In the anime: Charizard tears Infernape I new one, unless Blaze is activated. However, even if Blaze gets activated, Charizard will pull through.
In the game: Infernape. It's faster and can easily hit Charizard with a Stone Edge or Thunderpunch.
This is strictly the anime, not the games.
charizard lost to blaziken so you're argument is invalid, infernape easily
Infernape didn't fight blaziken so that can't really be proof.
Charizard would definitely win. From the moment he evolved into charmeleon he's been a powerhouse of Ashes. Charizard has pulled through much more than infernape, and that's without using blaze, while infernape uses it all the time.
It would be a pretty close match, but I think that Infernape would win. While Charizard does have more experience, I think that Infernape's speed combined with its moveset would give it a significant edge against Charizard. Plus, I thought it had more impressive wins under its belt during the course of DP than Charizard does. It doesn't use Blaze all the time, as it wasn't even under control until a bit after it had evolved into an Infernape, but I think Infernape could win regardless of whether Blaze is activated or not. Blaze would give it even more of an edge though.
Charizard resists all of Infernape's moves, Flamethrower, Flare Blitz, Mach punch, plus Its immune to dig, whilst Infernape only resists Charizards Flamethrower and Steel wing ( Im basing this on the move sets of their last appearances).
Charizard has also been training longer and pretty much non stop since he was left with Liza. He's got 2 full regions worth of training in, as a Charizard, before we were even introduced to Chimchar. He also beat a legendary, though if that were Infernape instead of Charizard, Its hard to say who would win. Articuno didn't know any flying type moves but knew water pulse, which Charizard is also weak to, so its hard to say, though in that respect Id say Charizard has the advantage being able to fly.
Whilst I agree that Infernape using Blaze would give it an edge, If Charizard were to activate Blaze as well, than I think things would tip back in Charizards favour. (Also, that would be fucking awesome to see :) )
In the end I think Charizard would come out the victor, if they were ever to go head to head.
I like Infernape better as a character though :)
With Charizards superior training, strength and experience, I just can't see Infernape beating him in a head to head.
In regards to which poke is better overall, ie not battling each other, I really don't know which one I would pick. Both have great dodging capabilities ( I wonder If Charizard could ever use steel wing to block attacks?), both have great move sets, both have great victories under their belts, and I would put both on my Ultimate Ash team. Infernape has some really good strategies, such as counter shield and the underground flare blitz, whilst Charizard has the greatest anime finishing move of all time. I really can't decide who I like better.
I would love to see the 2 of them team up for a double battle against someone. That would be unreal :)
Charizard without doubt. It showed incredible strength and power during course of Ash journey with merit going solely to him by defeating some of toughest opponents Ash ever challenged(like Blaine, Clair, Gary, or Noland in battle factory) being last resort to Ash to rely on and advance forward.
He was always depicted in light of strong pokemon with powerful attacks coming to expression first time when it learned rage against furious Primeape easily defeating him. It managed to stop whole army of Exeggutor by himself, and when he evolved to Charmeleon and Charizard he became so powerful that his strength exceeded his trainer skills refusing to listen being full of pride and hungry for power. It wasn't until Ash spend whole night trying to help him to unfreeze when he finally restored loyalty to Ash being reminded of everything good he did for him.
Infernape is indeed powerful pokemon which was of great help in several gym battles, such as against Candice or Volkner having match of his life against previous master Paul and Electivire with there being created some sort of rivalry between them during course of DP. His mach punch, flame wheel or flare blitz are all powerful moves and when blaze is activated he is very hard to stop. This can be noticed when using it with combination of flamewheel to defeat Volkner Luxray, or Paul Ninjask and Electivire after it almost collapsed from powerful electric attack.
Storywise he went through real hell as Chimchar being just like Charmander abandoned by his trainer affecting both pokemon greatly in future. I especially liked building up on Chimchar motivations and desire to prove how he is anything but weakling under Ash care growing in powerful Infernape getting his revenge against Paul in best possible manner and being able to release full potential and talent he had.His determination and persistence greatly match up Ash character too being similar in that aspect.
However generally Ash Charizard has way more experience going constantly through intense training at Charicific valley to improvise his moves. Dragon rage, seismic toss or outrage are all devastating moves which can finish of opponent with single hit or severely cripple therm and techniques like dragon breath and steel wing adds more variety to his move set being immune to most of Infernape attacks. Flying also puts him at high advantage and in speed Infernape would have very hard time in outmatching it considering how Charizard is able to be on pair with some of fastest pokemon out there(such as Scizor Gary used or Harrison Blaziken).
Fact that Charizard managed to defeat legendary pokemon says a lot about his strength and sheer resistance this pokemon possess being able to withstand even most brutal attacks opponents come at him managing to collect last bit of strength in himself to turn tables around. This can be noticed when he used combination of fire spin and seismic toss against Clair Dragonair after being badly injured, when despite huge disadvantage managed to defeat Gary Golem and Blastoise(his most powerful pokemon) and against Harrison Blaziken he put up great fight injuring him so badly that Harrison couldn't use him in next round costing him match still healing from damage Charizard dealt to it.
Later on i believe win over Articuno showed that Charizard greatly improved since last time becoming more powerful than he was in Johto league which can be noticed in his attacks like flamethrower becoming stronger learning several new moves which allowed him to evolve to next level, becoming even faster, more resistant and stronger than he was ever before.
It is often forgotten how Blaziken win in Johto league was mostly because he managed to deal more damage to Charizard by skillfully using his own techniques to mitigate dmg he taken in return. Such as using flamethrower fired into the ground to slow down speed of Charizard seismic toss and mitigate damage allowing him to stay in game. They were both equally strong pushing themselves to extreme and border of their abilities. Luck and more skilled use of Blaziken attacks was in reality deciding factor which allowed Harrison to advance forward.
I like Charizard personality better too. He was egoistic and full of pride being real hothead having nice growth as pokemon regaining loyalty to Ash, learning how to team up with other pokemon when battling together whole keeping his fiery attitude still being full of pride and burning Ash. This can be noticed when he decided to challenge all Charizard in Charicfic valley by himself despite losing ever match in process never giving up. Born of romantic relationship between him and Liza Charla was nice to see as well reflecting change through which he went since early days.
So i have to hand out this to Charizard.
After all, They made a Rookie superior then Ash !
Plus , Blaziken Overcome Charizard flying advantage simply by Jumping !
So , Infernape can do the same!
I don't think there any pokemon match for Infernape when his Special Blaze is activated!!!
I wish Ash took Infernape instate of Pikachu in Unova!
In the Whole Donamite , All I think about The Thing that might happen if Ash used Infernape!
I don't really care if Ash's Charizard is stronger or not. Infernape was far more interesting.
Goukazaru was more interesting, plus it is a Pokémon with a way better design.
Lizardon, specially Satoshi's, is just one of the most overrated things I ever got to know in my life.
