The whole concept of official qualifications is completely unnecessary in my opinion. Qualifications and such are usually based on set exams that you have limited time on, at least here in the UK. To reference Red VS Blue, it's more important that you actually know the knowledge, not how fast you know it.

A college education greatly increases your odds of landing a career opportunity instead of a job, however it guarantees nothing.

I don't even want that big of a career. I would just like to write fiction in my spare time, really.

Problem is that small business companies don't have the same quality as brand companies, and even if it does get the same quality, it'll slowly evolve into just another brand company.

Well, I doubt there are really any "brand-name" webhosting companies.

Sure, going to college and such could give you skills and knowledge that could help you get a job, and you get a form of official qualification from that. But what if you were to learn the exact same things elsewhere, like reading at home, or spending days lurking on Wikipedia? You get all the same knowledge, but what you don't get is a little piece of paper saying you have the knowledge. And that's fucking retarded.

    Also, inb4 wikiped is innacurate.

It's not. Really. It's one of the most accurate information sources that exists in the modern world.

Wikipedia is usually accurate, but it doesn't have all the information that a semester of a class has. You don't get any hands-on experience and you don't have anyone showing you examples and explaining a subject. It's a completely different experience.

But it doesn't mention fan backlash from fanbases of long-running franchises, as if they never existed. Therefore, Wikipedia isn't the best source.

I think Wikipedia has more information on topics than a fucking semester of school would give you.

For me personally, hands-on experience makes no difference to me. I've done exceedingly well without it so far.

That's probably true, I've learned a lot from visiting the home page every day.

It matters just as much as politics because media entertainment is serious business.
