A Yam was changed into a yan and was turned mega.

Electrodes (in real life) are parts of batteries (I think.) 2 types: cathodes & anodes. Cathodes have a positive charge, and anodes have a negative charge. (Might want to double check the specifics - definitely don't quote me on this.)

Volcano is obvious but I dont get the 'rona' part. I guess its in another language.

Corona is actually a layer of the sun

Blast obviously comes from...well, blast. Not sure about Karra.

The Messiah of the Pokemon World. It also seems to be inspired by the concept of a facade, since its very, very powerful but pretends to be average.

It first appeared in the North Pole after Santa's elves got a bit carried away with jinxing and giving rounds of Coca-Cola to each other.

Hit+Jackie Chan. I guess the 'mon' basically comes from Pokemon.
