    Default OU Goodstuffs Team

Hey, Bulbagarden Battle Center, how are ya? Personally, I'm fine. I would like to have a singles team of mine helped out, though. So, without further ado, the team!

    Whimsicott@Leftovers
    Calm
    Prankster
    252/0/252/0/4/0
    -Encore
    -Stun Spore
    -Leech Seed
    -Substitute

Whimsicott serves as a great annoyer and pseudo-wall. Stun Spore cripples just about anything and everything, and combined with Substitute and Leech Seed, makes Whimsicott incredibly difficult to take down. Generally, it's best to come in on a boosting move, Encore them onto the boost, and set up Substitute and Leech Seed/Stun Spore. Naturally, this requires proper guesswork and luck to time Whimsicott's entry just right, but it pays off when I see that yellow tint on an opponent's sprite. However, this set, being entirely status moves, is almost entirely walled by a Magic Bounce Espeon or something with Magic Guard.

    Dusclops@Eviolite
    Bold
    Pressure
    252/0/80/0/176/0
    -Rest
    -Sleep Talk
    -Will-O-Wisp
    -Night Shade

So, this is just a basic RestTalk-Eviolite set. With the above EV's, it survives just about any and every non-boosted attack with enough health to rest off the accumulated damage next turn. Due to the premise of the set being to make it fall asleep, she makes a great status absorber if I need to switch out after a rest heal. It also makes him immune to the return-postage effect if an Espeon foolishly comes in to bounce back a Will-O-Wisp. Night Shade allows Dusclops to deal steady damage to everything but normal types, and, as such, is almost completely walled by Blissey and Eviolite Chansey.

    Cloyster@White Herb/Shell Bell
    Jolly
    Skill Link
    0/252/4/0/0/252
    -Shell Smash
    -Icicle Spear
    -Rock Blast
    -Razor Shell

My favorite member of this team. :) I won't bore you with a description of how awesomely powerful Cloyster gets after one Shell Smash, so I'll instead go into what I use it for. First and foremost, I have Cloyster to get rid of Multiscale Dragonite. With Cloyster's defenses, it can tank most physical hits and strike back with a Shell Smash-boosted attack the next turn. It is incredibly weak to priority, especially after sponging a powerful physical hit, which is a drawback, but one that I can hopefully work through. My main question here is whether or not I should use a Shell Bell or White Herb. I'm not really considering Life Orb because of how much damage I expect Cloyster to take T1. White Herb gives me the benefit of +2 Atk, SpAtk, and Speed with no defense drops, but Shell Bell allows me more healing than leftovers after a fatal volley of Rock Blasts or Icicle Spears. Speaking of leftovers, though the recovery would be less per turn than the shell bell, it would also be something to consider, since I have to attack to get shell bell recovery.

    Gliscor@Toxic Orb
    Impish
    Poison Heal
    252/0/184/0/0/72
    -Facade
    -EQ
    -Protect
    -Swords Dance

Gliscor is able to come in on most physical attacks, set up a Swords Dance, then slam into the opposition with +2 EQ and a poison-boosted Facade. Protect is here over Taunt because I enjoy the extra turn of Poison Heal it guarantees. I've considered putting Ice Fang over Swords Dance, mostly to counter other Gliscor, but I realize that would rob the set of a lot of power. Gliscor mostly has issues with Ghosts carrying levitate and taking any special attack.

    Scrafty@Leftovers
    Careful
    Shed Skin
    252/8/0/0/248/0
    -Bulk Up
    -Hi Jump Kick
    -Crunch
    -Rest

Basically, Scrafty runs a Bulk Up set with Hi Jump Kick. After two Bulk Ups, Scrafty's defense is more than useable, and it's attack is absolutely monstrous. It also serves as my secondary wall, should Dusclops bite the dust. Rest+Shed Skin potentially allows me a full restore effect.

    Darmanitan@Choice Band
    Adamant
    Sheer Force
    0/252/0/0/0/252
    -Flare Blitz
    -Superpower
    -Rock Slide
    -U-Turn

Darmanitan functions as my revenge killer and otherwise as a general fallback. With a Choice Band, Sheer Force, Adamant Nature, and 252 Attack EVs, not much will enjoy taking even a resisted move to the face. U-Turn allows me to scout with a slam, as well as preserve momentum. Darmanitan's major fallback, however, is that, while it outruns most of it's targets, especially after a Stun Spore, it still falters sometimes, and it dies from any solid hit.

Now, one thing I realize is that my team is weak to is weather conditions, especially sun with their chlorophyll sweepers. Fortunately, I do have one possible method to disarm these fiends in Whim's Stun Spore, but that's incredibly situational, and most chlorophyll sweepers can easily one-shot Whimsicott. So, in an effort to generally counter Sun (and Sand) in general, as well as to add a special attacker to the team, I've composed the Dragonite set below to potentially rotate in and out of the current roster (probably in exchange for Gliscor):

    Dragonite@Leftovers (still in training)
    Calm
    Multiscale
    252/0/0/108/148/0
    Hurricane
    Surf
    Rain Dance
    Roost

Basically, the idea is to sponge off whatever attack happens to be fired off on the switch-in, set up Rain Dance, and use Surf or Hurricane, hopefully to seriously injure it's recipient, or force a switch into a weather inducer, that won't enjoy taking a surf, weakened or no.

In an ultimate review, this team generally does fairly well once it hits the groove, but sometimes (due to user errors, i'm sure, as well as other possible reasons) it takes a minute to get into it. It also, as I mentioned before, has issues with weather teams, primarily Sun, that i'm aware of. Physical walls haven't given me a *whole* lot of trouble, but I'd imagine that would be another reason for the Dragonite.

IMO taunt will work better on whimsicott than stun spore. will give detailed rate later.

I might try the set with taunt, but I'll probably keep Stun Spore on this particular Whimsicott. Taunt would protect Whim from being Taunt-fodder, itself, but the speed debuff from paralysis has come in handy a lot. Thanks for the suggestion, though. :)

I can see your team working great as a semi-stall team with the aim being to sweep late game with Cloyster. Replace specially def. heatran instead of D-nite. I don't see d-nite working without rapid spin and even with a spinner, I don't see how this set can take a +2 Venusaur's Sludge Bomb, especially if multi-scale is broken. Specially defensive Tran will also works as a Phazer and can counter Volcarona and pretty much every sun sweeper. It can also set-up sr.

Another change. sub + protect gliscor instead of your current one. I will explain why. Your team will clearly have problems with conkeldurr. Sub + protect with toxic spikes can easily out-stall conkeludurr with t-spikes.

I have been talking about t-spikes so fit in in Tentacruel or Foretress instead of Darmanitan.

Lastly, your team can be 6-0 d by a rival gliscor, so you can try bulky rotom-w.

    Changes:
    1) Whimsicott to Bulky rotom-w
    2) D-nite changed to spedef heatran
    3) Change gliscor's set to sub + protect
    4) spinner + hazard supporter instead of darmanitan.

Try out the changes and tell me.

Alright, I like the ideas you've given me. These are my responses
    1) Does this look good for a Rotom-W set like you suggested?
    Rotom-W@Leftovers
    Modest
    112/0/0/252/0/144
    Volt Switch
    Hydro Pump
    Thunder Wave
    Pain Split

    2) I agree, I was overestimating Multiscale D-Nites bulk. After testing with a decent SpDef IV running the described set, it didn't quite work the way I envisioned it. Cloyster did enjoy the rain, but that was about it. I'll work on getting a calm Heatran for that set. Since Goron's carrying Rocks already, would it be acceptable to run roar instead of Rocks?

    3) All right, should be easy enough to change. Would you suggest Toxic, Taunt, or Ice Fang on this Gliscor, given the team?

    4) I'm thinking that I'll use Goron, my SpDef Forretress, from my Sand Team for this role;
    (Goron) Forretress@Leftovers
    Sassy
    252/0/4/0/252/0
    Volt Switch
    Stealth Rock
    Toxic Spikes
    Rapid Spin

Also, since I don't see anything regarding Scrafty, I'm thinking I might sub him out for Heatran.
