Re: Tournament Registration Thread
"The Bulbagarden Test to Find the Best"
This Tournoment is a good way to test the new PO server that is up.
Basically, members of the tourny will find other members on PO servers, and ask them for a battle.(you may also arrange them here too)
You are able to obtain points for both winning and losing. Winning will earn you 4 points, while losing will earn you 1 point, and a battle that comes out to be draw, will earn you 2 points. So to take advantage of this tournament, make sure to battle as many people in this tournament as you can!
There is no limit as to how many people can join this tournament, but only a select few will make it to Round 2. Only the 33% of the players with the highest scores in Round 1 will move onto Round 2.
There will be a leaderboard, which will be updated every 3 days my myself or a mod if i can begg them hard enough XD
by ?/?/2011 anyone not uder the 33% mark will be out of the tournoment.
(date undecided)
The top few players will recive prizes, depending on how many pple join will change the number of people that recive przes. (prizes undecided)
The official tier for this tournament is the standard Gen 5 OU (Wifi OU). But, you can challenge anyone in this tournament in any tier of your choice, as long as the person you're challenging agrees to battle in that tier.
You CANNOT battle the same person more than once.
All rounds after Round 1 will be played in the standard Gen 5 OU tier.
There will be two threads for this
one for registering
-which is done like this:
Quote:
Forum name:smartgamer
PO name:smartgamer
Timezone:GMT -4
and one for keeping score
This is the appropiate way to post your score:
Quote:
Wins:member51 guy 666
Losses:randomperson1 bmgfboy642
Draws:anon4
when you want to post your score to update it, you do it the same way but you add on the new members:
Quote:
Wins:member51 guy 666 superman
Losses:randomperson1 bmgfboy642 supernoob
Draws:anon4 haxmaster
Battling Rules:
-Drizzle + Swift Swim Clause - Your team cannot have the ability Drizzle and Swift Swim coexisting together.
-Species Clause - You cannot use more than one of the same pokemon in your team.
-Freeze Clause - You cannot freeze more than one pokemon.
-OHKO Clause - Any moves that induce an instant KO like Horn Drill are banned.
-Sleep Clause - You cannot put more than one of the opposing Pokemon to sleep.
-Wi-Fi Battle - Must be on if the battle is in the Wifi tier.
-Timer - Please turn on the timer function.
-Dis/Allow Spectators - It is up to both you and your opponent whether to allow spectators or not. If one of you wish to not allow spectators, then Disallowing Spectators will take priority.
-Save Battle Logs - Make sure to save all your battle logs. If there are any disputes between any battles, then these logs will come in handy.
-Illegal Sets-Things like Speed boost/Baton pass Blaziken are impossible to have, it is the responsibility of the player to know illegal sets.
you may have to save the battle log to keep arguements from happening
Any Questions/Suggestions?
In all honesty, I didn't come up with this idea.
Etarnal from Team uber did, and eternal said that they were ok with me useing their idea :)
I also other forums useing this in the "interforums Tourny" and it does quite well on getting people to play others and getting them introduced to their PO servers.
It was too late for bulbagarden to get in on the fun, so i thought it would be nice to start up our own:3
Re: Tournament Registration Thread
Sounds like it could get a little messy, but I don't see how it could hurt to try it out.
I give it a go.
Re: Tournament Registration Thread
I have a few questions.
1. Is his gen 4 or 5?
2. Why ban legendaries and not other broken pokemon? Can you give any justification as to why blaziken (in gen 5) or Garchomp (in gen 4) isn't broken, but mespirit is? How about Mence vs. Articuno?
3. How is who faces who decided? Does one group choose? If say (for example) everyone hates Sublime, and want him to get out ASAP, they will make him face Angad (for example). Or If say (for example) we think Angad is the most threatening player in the other team, we would make our best player (me, of course) face him, so he could get out and not eliminate any of us.Wouldn't this result in the two best players facing every round? Which means the two worst people would face every round? That means a horrible battler can make it to the 3rd round by facing 2 noobs, while if, say, I have to get to the third round I would have to face Troggy and then Angad. This means the last few rounds will be very anti-climatic, and the best few players wont be advancing.
4. Whats with the random level changes for the prelims and semis? You realize that evs have a different effect depending on the level, so there is no point in giving a full 252 evs in a stat at level 50, since 248 would do the same thing. This means we would need 2 different teams, if you want the optimal team.
5.What is special about the prizes? Why Lunatone? More importantly, Anyone can get any of those mons through normal gameplay, outside of the feebas. The feebas just has two moves which are tms once you evolve it, nothing special. Both of those tms you can buy, too, so its not like its a one and done tm like earthquake.
6. Why items clause? Yes, vgc usually has it, but no one uses it in standard battling.

It will be done in Wi-Fi (gen IV).
It's like at the very bottom of the post.

People can have their own rules. This isn't the first time this was done iirc.

Again people make their own rules for tourneys. If he wants Item Clause, why not. It can make teambuilding a bit challenging, and some battles interesting.
@Rainy Autumn: about the prizes. Are these Pokemon EV trained, did you breed them, are they shiny, hacked...could you give some info on that?
Re: Tournament Registration Thread
It takes 15 minutes to get a shiny if you RNG abuse. And if you have any game other than HG/SS you can buy coins to get the ice beam tm.

Re: Tournament Registration Thread

Make it organized and add as much information as you can please.
Re: Tournament Registration Thread
Re: Tournament Registration Thread
Once, I tried to make a tournament. Well, that one's cancelled. Now, I'm trying to make a new one.
The name will be "The Pokemon Group Tournament". As the title says, there are groups. Each group has 4 people. One is the leader of the group. There are 4 groups, so there are a total of 16 people in the tournament.
Registration will start as soon as this tournament is accepted. Registration closes after 8 days from the start of the time when the tournament is accepted.
I'm not so sure about the prizes. But for sure, each of the winning group's members get a Feebas. They also get an item with the Feebas. They also get some other Pokemon, although there's nothing so special about them. Some of these are a little hard to get in the games (probably). It's Larvitar, Bagon, Dratini, Beldum and Gible.
The rules are:
-If one of the Pokemon in your team is Charizard, for example, you can't have another Charizard in your team.
-If one of your Pokemon holds a Leppa Berry, for example, your other Pokemon can't hold a Leppa Berry.
The tournament will be done in the 4th Generation (Generation IV).
This tournament is point-based. The explanation is that each member can get points by battling. The opponent is chosen randomly. The members get a chance to battle for two weeks-two months. After one battle, an opponent is chosen for one player, so they can get points. If the battle is lost by someone, that person gets no points. If the battle's a tie, both people get a point. If someone wins, the person that won gets 2 until 3 points, depending in how much Pokemon that still have energy to battle. If there are 6-4 Pokemon that have energy to battle, you get 3 points. if there are 3-1 Pokemon that have energy to battle, you get 2 points.
After everyone battles... Group 1's members have points now. All of the points are added. Example: Group 1: A has 10 Points. B has 11 Points. C has 8 Points. D has 9 Points. The group has earned a total of 10+11+8+9 Points.
It happens with the other groups also. After that, each group has a total of ??? points. And I compare all of the group's total points and the group with the highest points is the winner.
To report who won or lost in the battle, use this form (this is an example):
If it's a tie, use this form (this is an example):
The Pokemon that are banned in the Battle Frontier are banned in this tournament too. The item "Soul Dew" is also banned as well, just like in the Battle Frontier.
So, what do you think? Thanks!
