    Default What the hell happened?!

I was battling a random person and this is what happened:

It was down to our last Pokémon, which had around 20 HP left each. His Magmortar was holding a Life Orb. He did Thunderbolt to me, and he killed my Jellicent, and afterwards, he died from the damage the Life Orb causes.

AND THEN THE GAME TOLD I HAD LOST. Why?! He both fell down!! It's supposed to be a tie!! It's not fair!! I thought that maybe he also got the message that he lost, so I wanted to know. Can someone tell me why did I lose if both Pokémon fainted at the same time?!

Magmartar wins. He threw the final attack then Life Orb took it's effect after the attack on Jellicent. Jellicent fainted first

No, Blqjstr is correct. His Pokemon died from recoil. The recoil damage is counted after your jelli died. So, it is logical that your opponent wins.

I believe the only way you get a tie is if both pokemon die simultaneously as in Explosion. However, if the other pokemon goes down before you, you can imagine a 'referee' calling out the winner. Afterwards the winner can faint from exhaustion (or life orb) if he is the last one to have stood.

I think it should have counted as a tie.

if you use explosion, destiny bond or something like that on your last pokemon; you lose :P

There should never be a tie, last pokemon left would be the winner. So if a pokemon uses a move with recoil as long as it takes out the opposing pokemon first it would become the winner. The opposite would be true for suicide moves since the pokemon that used the move would faint first.
