Default Standard Battles RULES [PLEASE READ] [Updated Gen. V Banlist 8/14/11]

Standard Battle Rules are as follows in this forum. For these rules, the solicitor is the person making a post to request a battle. If you have any questions, please ask.

    User-Selected Rules
1: Level= You have a choice between level 50, level 100, and free level.
    2: Battle Style= You have a choice between single (1 vs. 1), double (2 vs. 2), and triple (3 vs. 3) battles.
3: Number of Pokémon used by each competitor= For singles, you have a choice between 3 and 6. For doubles, you have a choice between 4 and 6. For triples, you have a choice between 3 and 6.
4: Tier= You have a choice between UnderUsed, OverUsed, Uber, Little Cup, and DreamWorld(5th Gen Only).

    Standard Clauses
1: Species clause= This clause states that no more than one Pokémon of each species may be used on a team. This includes alternate forms of the same Pokémon.
2: OHKO clause= This clause states that no One Hit Knock-Out moves may be used. These moves are: Fissure, Guillotine, Horn Drill, and Sheer Cold.
3: Sleep clause= This clause states that no more than one Pokémon may be asleep per team. In other words, if you have put one Pokémon on your opponent's team to sleep, you cannot put another Pokémon to sleep on their team until the Pokémon already asleep wakes up or faints. You will also not be able to use Yawn on any Pokémon on your opponent's team until the Pokémon already asleep wakes up or faints. You may, however, put a Pokémon on your opponent's team to sleep if your opponent has a Pokémon that has fallen asleep due to using Rest.
4: Evasion clause= This clause states that no moves that raise/lower accuracy/evasion may be used.

So when requesting simulator battles, I use the regular prefixes, like "5th GEN OU"? Since you guys are looking to get more activity on your PO server, I think there should be a prefix specifically for simulator battles? Just a suggestion.

    You mean like

    PO 5th GEN OU
    WiFi 5th GEN OU

    etc?

Yes, or if that's too long, shorten it to "Simulator" or "PO" and leave the other prefixes for wifi. This way there'd be better organization with the battle requests.

    OK SaturnYoshi added these
    WIFI 4th GEN
    SIMULATOR 4th GEN

    WIFI 5th GEN
    SIMULATOR 5th GEN
I figured having something like WIFI 5th GEN OU, SIMULATOR 5th GEN OU, etc would just make one very long list of prefixes. This way people can just add in the title what tier they want to play in.

How many battle threads am I permitted to post at a time? Or, I should ask, how many active threads can I have?

I would like to post a thread in the Standard battles section (and this time it will actually be a standard battle). However, I already have a thread in the Free battle section. Is there a limit on how many you can have per section? I mean, I understand most people aren't going to post up 10 battle threads, but it doesn't hurt to know the limit.

And I have a second question. Are the prefixes only for the Standard battle section? Because once the thread was moved, it lost the prefix. Is it optional in that section?

Any of them in Gen. IV. In that generation, when the Wi-Fi Battle's rule is set to Level 50 or 100, all participating Pokemon will be automatically set to that level, no matter what level they actually are. Their normal levels are restored after battle.

In Gen. V, the same applies for Lv.50, but the auto-100 rule has been abolished. Still, in set-level battles, your Lv.58 will have no problems.

Also, one thing for this thread; I'm fairly certain the Gen. V item banlist should be much wider, as a large number of items are legally unavailable in Black and White.

I posted this in another thread but after a little thought, realised it might be better placed here (sorry about that) so my question is this, just how legal is use of an action replay? For instance, is it ok to battle on wifi with a pokemon gained through use of an AR? (I was thinking about gettin an AR and want to know the general ruling on it in pokemon)

A Pokemon made by AR and other hacking devices is technically legal as long as it doesn't step outside of legal parameters, such as learning moves it can't normally learn under any circumstances.

You cannot use any Pokemon that belongs to Smogon's Uber tier in a Standard OU match.

I'd like to also point out that I have updated the OP with the current fifth generation banlist. Any Pokemon on this list may not be used in standard battles.

Bulbagarden uses smogons lists? Or is smogon standard everywhere now? I'm confused.

We use smogon banlists. They are not the "standard" everywhere.
