Default New and Creative moveset thread

Attention: 5th gen sets go here: The 5th Generation Pokemon Moveset Thread!!!

Smogon has one of these, so I figure why don't we make one? Pretty much post some of your favourite movesets, complete with natures and EV's, IV's if necesarry and explain what it is supposed to accomplish. The only rule is that it cannot be on one of the analysis pages for the Pokemon on Smogon's Strategy Dex.

    But please, no Specs Gyarados.

So, anybody got any sets they'd like to share?

An offensive trick room Bronzong I once saw on Smogon.

    -Explosion
    -Gyro Ball
    -Trick Room
    -Earthquake
    252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
    Brave (O Spe. IV)
    Macho Brace
    Levitate

See, under Trick Room, Gyro Ball still retains the power it normally would, so not only does Bronzong almost always hits first but it has a massively powerful STAB attack.

I came up with this set that I used to use back when Scizor and Gyarados used to piss me the fuck off.

    Latias@Flame Orb
    40HP/252Spe/220SpAtk
    Modest
    ~Trick
    ~Recover/Refresh
    ~Dragon Pulse
    ~Thunderbolt/Surf/HP Fire

Let's just say I got a few kids to rage quit and I've taken care of nearly all non-guts physical sweepers.

I thought of a bronzobf that could maybe work I liked it atleast

    Bronzing @ leftovers/ life orb
    nature: adamant
    evs: 252/hp 252/atk 4/def
    -block
    -stealth rock
    -explosion
    -earthquake
pretty much for a trick room team where zong comes in on something it resists and sets up the rocks then can block and explode or if a switch happens that works even better beciase then you block the counter ans explode on it or switch to your own counter. It probably needs improvement but it's a decent idea IMO, even if it is basically doing a dugtrios job but without the fraility.

The offensive trick room set is on the Smogon Bronzong Analysis page now.

I have been using a Sub-Punching Dragonite recently with very good success:

    Dragonite@Life Orb
    252HP/252Atk/4Def
    Adamant
    ~Substitute
    ~Roost
    ~Focus Punch
    ~Dragon Claw

I know some people have a problem with Life Orb on a Substitute set, but that is what Roost is there for. The HP EV's add to Dragonite's superior bulk (in general for Dragons) and obviously max attack in order to hit as hard as possible with Focus Punch and Dragon Claw. The beauty of those two moves is that no single Pokemon outside of Shedinja can resist them.

Now, most people when they see a Dragon of any kind, try to get their counter in and it is normally an ice type or a steel type. Sub up on the switch, then wreak havoc with Focus Punch and Dragon Claw.

That's pretty awesome, actually. The hard part is getting Dnite in and forcing something out. Hopefully it'll take your opponent a while to realize how slow your Dnite is.

Recently, I constructed a Choice Band Scizor. It hasn't been tested, but its moveset can be changed.

    Scizor
    Item: Choice Band
    Nature: Adamant
    Ability: Technician
    EVs: 252 HP, 252 Attack, 4 Defense

    Moves:
    Metal Claw
    Pursuit
    U-Turn
    Brick Break

Metal Claw has more PP than Iron Head, and, with STAB and Technician, is very close to it in power. Pursuit I never actually used on a set, but it benefits from Technician, although Night Slash remains an option. U-Turn allows me to switch out after a potentially strong move, but it is by no means a consistent STAB. Finally, Brick Break rounds out the set and works with Pursuit for near-universal type coverage.

Please let me know what you think.

Choice Band is Scizor's flagship moveset, you can look it up on Smogon.

And never, ever use a Steel move that isn't Bullet Punch. Bullet Punch is 99% of the reason Scizor is even used.

Actually Bullet Punch AND Technician are but I do strongly agree with you.

Yes, you're right, but one of those things was there before Plat when Scizor was rarely used and one wasn't :]

Ah. This Scizor was raised in Diamond, so that's why I didn't ever see Bullet Punch as part of its movepool before.
But now that you mentioned it, Bullet Punch is a far stronger addition to the movepool than Metal Claw, and has the added benefit of working with Technician.

Thank you very much for the input. I'll get on re-learning that. Is there anything else that may need tweaking (according to you guys)?

Well this isn't to help your movesets, it's to post your creative and original movesets then maybe get criticism. It's also not original or creative if you take an existing moveset and tweak 2 moves in it.

For Choice Band Scizor just use the Smogon Page for suggestions. What you have is fine, some other options are Superpower over Brick Break (Also a Platinum only move), Quick Attack, or Aerial Ace (Not that useful but it's there).
