    Default My Hoenn Team

Hello everyone. I was thinking about forming an All-Star Hoenn team. A group of pokemon that came from the Hoenn Region. I got admit that Hoenn have awesome pokemon. Andrew Shard from Serebiiforums have inspired me. I like it. I was wondering if you can help me balance and to complete my Hoenn team. Here's what I currently have and planning to get. Like I said before, I'm new to the team building.

    Blaziken @ Blazikenite
    Nature: Adamant
Ability: Speed Boost (in both forms)
    EVs: 64 HP/ 252 Atk/192 Speed
    IVs: 31/31/31/31/31/31
    -Protect
    -Flare Blitz
    -High Jump Kick
    -Hone Claws/Sword Dance
Note: Like I said before, originally EV spread that I've planned is Max atk,and speed and having 4 HP. According to Cloneblazer12, he said that Mega set is the best one after I said words that makes him proud. Source: Cloneblazer21's post. Since he's a nice guy,and everyone agrees with him, I decided to run this set for the coolest pokemon of all time. I could have him to relearn Sword Dance again but. If I running HJK, I decided to use Hone Claws so it will be easier to land a hit without missing it. Sure Sword Dance, and HJK combo are powerful and all but I'm not taking any chances of missing it. I playing it safe. However, I don't mind using Sword Dance over Hone Claws once again if I needed to. I'm lucky enough to receive all of the 6 Max Ivs.

    Milotic @ Leftovers
    Nature: Bold
    Ability: Marvel Scale
    Evs: 248 HP/ 252 Def/ 8 Sp.Atk
    Ivs : 31/x/31/31/31/31
    -Scald
    -Recover
    -Toxic
    -Dragon Tail
Note: I've decided to stick with Scald instead of Surf in case it facing the steel and poison-types. That way it will have the chance of giving the poison and steel types a burn. After all, Toxic don't work on Steel and Poison types.

    Gardevoir @ Life Orb
    Nature : Timid
    Ability :Trace
    Evs: 252 Sp.Atk/ 4 Sp.Def/ 252 Speed
    Ivs: 31/x/31/31/31/31
    -Psyshock
    -Moonblast
    -Shadow Ball
    -Thunderbolt/Focus Blast

    Sceptile @ White Herb
    Nature: Timid
    Ability: Unburden
    EVs: 4 HP/ 252 Sp.Atk/ 252 Speed
    Ivs: 31/x/31/31/31/31
    -Leaf Storm/Substitute
    -Energy Ball
    -Focus Blast
    -Hidden Power (Dark)
Note: I can rebreed it with the different nature if I need to. But I'm kind of pretty new with the specific Hidden Power.

    ____________________________________________________________________________________________

Here's the pokemon that I'm planning to get.

    Salamence @ Lum Berry/Life Orb/Assault Vest
    Nature: Naive
    Ability: Intimidate
    Ev: 252 Atk/ 4 SpA/ 252 Speed
    -Dragon Dance/Hydro Pump/Roost
    -Outrage/Dragon Claw/Dragon Pulse/Draco Meteor
    -Earthquake
    -Fire Blast//Flamethrower/Stone Edge/Rock Slide
Note: I haven't receive it yet. But I believe this mixed set is able to take out anything in its path. In fact, the 4th move slot is for the move like Fire and/or Rock-type move to eliminate the common weakness, Ice-types. Earthquake can easily destroy Poison,Fire,Steel,Rock, and Electric types while Stone Edge and Rock Slide can take out the Flying types. One of the Dragon type moves is the very an important STAB move for Salamence to have. Dragon Dance can definitely boost its Atk,and Speed. If I have to use the Life Orb, then I must have Roost to restore its health. If I'm going for Outrage, then I got to have Lum Berry. I'll have the move Hydro Pump just in case I need to. As for the ability, I decided to stick with Intimidate ability. Not only does its lower the opposing pokemon atk power but it also can frighten it. I don't mind Moxie ability at all really. It just that I thought that Intimidate can make Salamence look really scary.

As for the sixth pokemon, I didn't decide the sixth as I don't know which member of the Hoenn pokemon that can give the team the synergy to perform well. But I was thinking of have Claydol to the team as it has Rapid Spin which to eliminate the hazards. Or Metagross as it has a powerful defense and offense as well.

You see, I like form a Hoenn team because they have amazing new abilities as well. If there's anything that needs to be fixed, then let me know as I like to form a well-rounded,synchronized team.

Edit: I've decided the sixth member of the Hoenn team. Metagross.

    Metagross @ Assault Vest
    Adamant Nature
    EVs: 252 HP 252 Atk 4 Def
    -Meteor Mash
    -Bullet Punch
    -Zen Headbutt
    -Earthquake

    Salamence@ Lum Berry/Life Orb
    Naive nature
    Moxie
    252 Attk/252 Spe/4 SpA

    Dragon Dance
    Outrage/Dragon Claw
    Iron Tail
    Fire Blast

Because of Salamence's abysmal move pool your going to need to run mixed mence. Dragon dance will be your main boosting move. I'd say go for dragon claw as it doesn't lock you into a move for up to three turns. Than your going to want Iron tail and Fire blast to cover his Fairy, Steel, and Ice weaknesses. If you see a Mamoswine I'd advise switching out.

    Better MixedMence set.

Don't use Iron Tail. Inaccurate and EQ usually suffices for Fairies.

    Salamence @ Life Orb
    Moxie
    Naive
    252 Atk/4 SpA/252 Spe
    ~Draco Meteor
    ~Earthquake
    ~Dragon Claw
    ~Fire Blast/Hydro Pump

I don't really find Hydro Pump useful on MixMence. Everything that HP is super effective against is hit with EQ or even OHKO'd by a +1 or +2 Dragon Claw.

I see. So Moxie is the better ability for the MixMence to have? That's strange. I just thought that Intimidate might be the better ability as to lower the opposing pokemon's power as its summoned to the field. If I need to have Moxie ability for MixMence, then I'll do it. But what about Ferrothorn? I've watched it on youtube video and it can be quite annoying to the physical sweepers as it makes contact. Does anyone agree with TerraTF about Moxie being the better ability than Intimidate? I've already got a couple of physical sweepers in Blaziken, and Metagross who also happened to be an offensive defender.

Intimidate is only really useful on bulky sets like FatMence (who is hard to get on-cart because Wish is an Event move). Moxie is indeed better as at least 2 of your moves will be physical. Fire Blast hits Ferrothorn.

@TerraTF Hydro Pump hits Gliscor and Hippowdon, mainly, if you aren't too worried about Ferrothorn and Skarmory. You're essentially choosing your checks. since he's got a MBlaziken (aka OP a.f. Fire type) Hydro Pump is perfectly viable for him.

Hmm. If everyone agrees about Moxie is the better ability for the offense Salamence to have on the Hoenn All-Star Team, then I'll do it. Anything else that you want to evaluate besides Salamence?

No, use a Reset Bag from Super Training :) Although you'll have to use Focus Blast, not Drain Punch, if you don't want to rebreed Treecko as DP is a Gen V tutor move.

E: Also I forgot to adjust the EVs on Sceptile, should be fixed now. If you don;t want to rebreed for Naive, you'll have to BP it Swords Dance or something, as full special Sceptile is underwhelming but Timid is not optimal for mixed Sceptile. TBH if it were me I'd replace Sceptile altogether but it's your team

Oh. I've no problem with Super Training. I've already got Sword Dance. Cloneblazer12 told me that Sceptile is a special attacker. I done what he told me. But what about Blaziken? It don't have the move Baton Pass.

This is what I'd use if I had to use those 6 Pokémon. Some of it, howeer, like the WP Metagross, is just taste and could be retained if your style is different.
Do I have to rebreed a speed boost Torchic, and an unburden treecko all over again? I've bred very hard on those two and it took me like 3 days to breed a perfect speed boost torchic with 6 max Ivs.

You'e right BP is an egg move. :/ Guess you can't do that, then. I'd still run LO Blaziken and MGardevoir, though, as Blaziken is more competent (Ubers-level competent) without the MEvo than Gardevoir is.

Sceptile has a higher SpA than Attack, yes. But it is still low compared to all the powerhouses in OU. So it can differentiate itself from them by going mixed and using Unburden to make up for the lack of Speed EV investment.

That's good. Now I get to keep my perfect Blaziken, the coolest, and fastest pokemon of all time. I don't mind rebreed an unburden treecko with the different nature such as Naive, thus having the max Ivs of both attack, and sp.atk as long as it can have an egg move, Dragon Breath. Just in case when it comes to dragon-types. For Drain Punch, that might be a problem, I don't have a fourth gen pokemon game. Therefore, Focus Blast is an option for a fighting-type moves of breaking the steel-types. Rock Slide can definitely cover-up against Ice,Flying,Fire, and Bug-types. What do you think? Does everyone agree with Glory Blade's evaluation?
