Thread: You Win Some, You Lose Some [Character Pictures and Bios]

Hey guys, I figured since most of my characters are OCs, and the fact that there are actually kind of a lot of them, and also because I just like and excuse to draw, I'd post bios and pictures of each character in this thread. I hope you guys find this helpful and/or interesting. The Bios are mostly general information that is revealed up front when we meet the character, but there might occasionally be tiny spoilers.

Appearance:
5'10”, willowy build, spikey black “scene” or “emo” hair held back with a rolled white bandana. Wears black skinny jeans and a white pullover with shredded hems. Is possibly wearing eyeliner.

Notes:
Salem is a quirky but knowledgeable and reliable guy with an adoration of ghost pokemon and a tendency to act as a big brother figure. As a psychic, his powers allow him to understand pokemon telepathically as well as to perform impressive telekinesis, but his experiences as a child, being ostracized for his powers and eccentricities, have lead him to downplay his powers to others and rarely use or practice them openly. He is an experienced pokemon trainer with two journeys under his belt and a year as a junior trainer at a ghost-type gym. He goes on his third journey in Johto upon being unilaterally told by his best friend Electra that he would accompany her. His only goals for the present are to catch a Misdreavus and have fun.

Appearance:
5'7”, athletic build, shoulder length blond hair with a lightning bolt barrette. Wears a military style top that bears her mid-drift and low-riding skinny-jeans.

Notes:
Electra is a confident and aggressive girl with a smart mouth but a strong sense of justice and loyalty. Somewhat doted on by her family, she's used to being very vocal about her feelings and going after what she wants. Despite her assertiveness, she is very friendly and quick to take the side of others. She is a trainer with one journey's worth of experience, and chose to go to Johto so that she could finally go on a journey with her best friend Salem, who she has strong feelings for. Her goals in Johto are to catch a Chinchou and a Mareep, and to spend time with Salem. Because of her own issues getting her family to allow her to go on her first pokemon journey, she agrees to chaperone Cherry for her sister, despite the fact that it interferes with her own goals.

5'2”, slender build, wild, shoulder length strawberry hair, bright pink eyes. Wears skirts over leggings and sandals.

Notes:
Cherry is a kind but air-headed girl who adores cute pokemon. While she always tries her hardest at everything she does, she is naive and lacks self-esteem, believing other people are smarter and more talented than she is. Because of this, she is prone to giving up easily as soon as someone tells her that she can't do something, or something proves more difficult than she expected. She decides to go on a pokemon journey to test herself and prove to her family and friends that she can be mature and smart, and do something on her own.

5'5”, average build, short white-green hair. Wears a sideways visor and a jeans with lots of pockets and zip off into shorts.

Notes:
Aspen is an intelligent but cynical loner who has a tendency to be suspicious of others. He isn't the most friendly, nor does he feel the need to interact with others outside his childhood friend and neighbor, Cherry. As a self-sufficient, mature child who rarely needed scolding or direction and was often left to his own devices, he suffers from a kind of suburban boredom with his life and took to things like studying and acting as Cherry's protector for little reason other than to fill the time. As the only grandchild in his family, there is an expectation that he will inherit the position of Gym Leader from his grandfather, but he doesn't have any desire or intention to do so. He goes on a journey solely because Cherry asked him to go with her, and he decided she probably wouldn't be able to get by without him. His goal is see Cherry through her pokemon journey in one piece.

Notes:
Charisma is the pokemon chosen by Salem to be his starter in Johto, and is the child of two of his favorite ghost pokemon. She has known him since she was born and trusts him implicitly, seeing him almost like another parent, as he showers her with love and affection. She has a sweet personality, is very polite, and she loves people and other pokemon. She is quite good at battling and always determined, but she isn't a hot-head and enjoys just being with loved ones the most. When she loses, she feels responsible and needs to be cheered up. She doesn't seem to understand that usually other people and pokemon find ghosts to be unnerving, since she grew up in an environment where ghost pokemon were adored, and when others reject her or find her frightening, she becomes very saddened.

Luster is the pokemon chosen by Electra to be her starter in Johto, and is the child of her first electric pokemon, now a Luxray, and another early pokemon, a Persian, which is now the family pet. He and Electra have similar aggressive personalities and he is very eager to battle and become stronger, trusting Electra like a coach and good friend. Though strong and always ready for a challenge, he is also a cheerful and laid-back pokemon, and he makes friends easily while having enough confidence that negative things rarely do more than merely annoy him. While not a very experienced battler, he is very fast and agile, with good battling instincts. Losing only fires him up for the next battle.

Sweetness is a happy-go-lucky young pokemon with an intensely curious nature who is oblivious to danger. She is not remotely afraid of humans and from the very beginning she finds Cherry interesting and not remotely frightening, and the two become fast friends, learning together. While inexperienced in battle, she is something of a prankster, using her cuteness and maneuverability to get out of tricky situations. While initially not especially thoughtful, she picks things up fast and is eager to learn and try new things, and she quickly becomes a reliable companion to her trainer and other team members.

Notes:
Bones is a rough and tough, no-nonsense pokemon who is owned by Primrose but loaned to Cherry to catch her starter pokemon. A bit of a badass with anger issues, he likes to do things his own way and his first response to most things that annoy him is to bash it with his bone club. While he is highly respectful of Prim, who he adores, he dislikes Cherry and hardly listens to her. He gets along fine with other pokemon so long as they don't bother him, but he's stand-offish and difficult to get close to. He's an excellent and experienced battler who isn't afraid of anyone or anything and is always willing to cave in some heads. His respect is hard won, but once it is, he is incredibly loyal and protective.

Ripple is the pokemon which Aspen chooses to begin his journey with, and was provided by the starter program. He is cautious and circumspect, but also has a strong will to please. He wants very much to trust his trainer, but initially finds it hard to connect to Aspen, who isn't especially affectionate or emotional. He does quickly begin to trust that Aspen cares for him however, and always tries his best, looking for approval. He is shy with other pokemon, but is always polite and friendly, and once he becomes used to companions, he develops a strong bond, always looking out for his fellows and friends. He has good power and strength, which sees him through any blunders caused by his and his trainer's inexperience, and he is eager to improve, even if battling itself doesn't especially appeal to him.

Appearance: 5'6, long wavy maroon hair, partly done in a side bun that looks like a rose, teal eyes, baby-doll shirt and a white lab coat.

Notes: Cherry's oldest sister, she's pretty much been the family matriarch since her mother's passing and took care of Cherry herself since she was very young and is quite protective of her. While generally intelligent, kind, and mature, she has her ditzy and pouty moments. She is also known to be a terrible cook, and she has an addiction to Strawberry Cake. As a pokemon researcher under Professor Elm, she is predominantly interested in the effects of friendship on the evolution of pokemon, and became interested in it upon the evolution of her Chimecho from a Chingling.

Appearance: 5'8, wild red hair brushed to one side of her head, maroon eyes, tall and slender, fashionable clothing and high heels.

Notes: Cherry's other sister, who is usually in Unova filming her magical-girl-style hit television show of which she is the main character of. She plays Star Strike, a warrior for justice, along with her pokemon and co-star, a Cleffa named Sparkle. She loves fashion, is very talkative, and occasionally a little self-absorbed, but she cares a lot for her family, and especially likes to dote on Cherry.

Appearance: 6'1, spiky blond hair, blue eyes, blue jeans, blue and yellow jacket.

Notes: Electra's older brother and the gym leader of Sunyshore city. He's a quiet, long-suffering guy who can become intense when he comes across a challenge. He sometimes finds his sister's idolization of him irritating, and definitely did when he was younger, but he is generally looking out for her and can sometimes be over-protective, bossy or controlling. He thinks Salem is very strange and didn't like him when they were kids, but now that they are older any seeming dislike or hostility he shows towards Salem is mostly joking, though Salem still doesn't realize that. His best friend is Flint.

Appearance: 4'11, Short black hair, grey eyes, black high socks, black long shorts, dark blue hoodie with pokemon league symbol.

Notes: Salem's younger brother whom he adores. Simon is also a psychic, but is better at Clairvoyance and Teleportation, and intends to continue his psychic training in the hopes of becoming stronger. He is a bit sullen, holding onto some sadness and resentment towards his older brother for leaving on a pokemon journey when he was six and barely seeing him since then, but in truth he looks up to Salem a lot. He thinks everyone in his family is weird but him.

Appearance: 4'6, long black hair in pig tails with asymmetrical bangs, lavender-grey eyes, lavender skort, legwarmers, white tank top with lace.

Notes: Salem's youngest sister. She is extremely mature for her age, intelligent and very sarcastic. She and Salem like each other a lot and get along very well even though they haven't been around each other much. She is also psychic and is very good at telekinesis and psychometry. Salem gave her a Purrloin he caught when he was in Unova, which she named Snitch.

Notes: Formerly a close friend of Cherry's she is known in her hometown for being friendly, beautiful and smart. While she is very nice to Cherry, who looks up to her a lot, she doesn't realize that what she says is sometimes belittling or hurtful. She is a very good battler, from being around her two older brothers who are both experienced trainers. Currently she is traveling with Brian.

Occupation: Beginning Pokemon Trainer [Trainer Class: Super Nerd]

Appearance: 5'5, short black hair, glasses, weedy physique, black shorts, blue shirt, sleeveless light-blue pullover with a hood, black high socks and tennis shoes.

Notes: A classmate of Cheery and Aspen, he views Aspen as his rival, but said trainer keeps forgetting he exists. Currently traveling with Regina, who he views as an idol, the greatest day of his life was the day he was listed as having a higher class ranking than Aspen. While he is way too high strung and concerned about grades and competing with Aspen, he is mostly harmless and doesn't have a cruel bone in his body.
