Thread: A shared world!

I just had a great idea! While I was reading the thread about everyones universes, I was thinking "Why isn't there some world that multiple authors work in?" Then I had an idea. Why don't I post a thread all about that. The idea here is to create a universe that is host to multiple stories by different authors. If this idea works, I'm hoping to have a list of characters who inhabit the world, a timeline of the world based on stories people have written that are set in it, and how that world differs from the normal pokemon world. Please tell me what you think of this idea, because I really think that having a world created my multiple authors would be REALLY COOL! Please tell me what you think of my idea.

I wouldn't say a seperate world, maybe a region created by a group of authors for their stories take place it. I'm quite surprised this hasn't happened yet. But if there was to be a shared world, I would love to participate in the creation of it, and I would certainly write stories taking place in the world.

It's been done in other fandoms... I don't see why not at Bulbagarden.

Well, the first think I think we would need to consider is how much this new world resembles the canon pokemon world. Is it a variation on the normal world, with the same regions but different people, or is it a whole new world, with new places and people?

How fantastic or realistic do we want this world to be?

I'd say somewhere in-between fantastic and realistic. The world acts normal for the most part, but there are some things that happen there that are pretty fantastic. That way, we can have a world that makes sense without getting rip of any potential plot devices.

Everybody should bring something to the table. Their own aspect.

So, here I have a list of things we need individual people to come up with:
The world's name
The regions (each region should be invented by a different person)
A world religion?
Evil things (like evil legendary pokemon, or evil teams)
Important characters (everyone should come up with at least one)
Other interesting stuff about the world (Like a interesting culture somewhere, or some cool landmark. Stuff like that)

And here is a list of things that should be done collaboratively:
The world's mechanics
The world's history and legends

Well, I really hope that this works out! Please think up things in that list and post them here! (Or should I make a separate thread specifically for information about the new world itself?)

I think we should limit ourselves to a single region at first. Plenty of space for everyone to contribute. That way we can really pull somehting big. One enchanted forest from that guy, a haunted castle from me, ancient island ruins from you, some kind of stormy mountain from the other guy...

And we need to make them detailed. About the world's mechanics... I suggest using more or less the core ones in Pokémon and jsut expand on, say, Aura, people having the abilities to heal and understand Pokémon like in Special, that kind of things.

Also, I think we should focus on the region itself first. Locations and such.

Will we be having magic power at all?
