Default Pokemon Olympus/Grejoca Region: Help Needed

    Hello all

You may remember a few months ago I posted a thread requesting names for Pokemon for a new region. Well, now I need help with creating the region itself, and was looking for some help.

Grejoca is an island region, made up of three large islands and three smaller ones. It is designed like Ancient Greece, and the storyline follows the ancient civilization as they become under threat by electronics and new found technology that an organisation is using to try and take over. There is a royal family that runs the country and Pokemon League, with their gym leaders and elite four their lords and ladies. The group is mostly countrysidem with a large ocean surrounding, an icy mountain are and several smaller mountains and rocky paths dotted around.
There are a group of godly Pokemon based on the Twelve Olympians, Hestia and Hades. The villains are attempting to draw a meteorite Pokemon towards the mountain (location undecided) to release the gods from their ice chamber and set them free on the world. My story will involve three trainers selected to guard the Princess as she wishes to take part in the Pokemon League and the Pokemon Olympics that are taking place. The group is targeted by the villainous organization, who wish to kidnap the Princess and spill her blood to aid in their ceremony.

I am looking for help to try and sort this region out. At the moment, I need:
    - An idea for the theme to the city names and the Mountain the Gods are kept in
    - Names for Gym Leaders and their respective type
    - A name for the villainous organization
    - Ideas for small recurring characters
    - Name for the Pokemon Professor and the four main characters
    - I require more help with naming Pokemon, so if anyone wishes to help or has ideas for a good Greek mythological creature that could aid this, I’ll give Pokemon descriptions/take ideas.

I would really appreciate some help with this, whatever ideas you all have! I have a map to use, but Im struggling to upload it due to its size :( If anyone has tips on that, I'd appreciate it

I will credit those whose provide ideas :)
    Thanks, Ethan

The city names could be a mix of two different things, like Hoenn being a plant and a landmark (e.g Lily-Cove).

Thus the new region's cities names could be a mix of ancient Greek mythology like the Chimera and a landmark (e.g. Chimecove City).

Just an idea to provoke some thought.

That's quite a nice idea :) One of my friends suggested I use the names of famous Greek people. I could definitely combine the names of Ancient Greek Philosphers, Architects, Writers etc or mythological creatures with landmarks. :) Anyone have a list of some good landmark places?

    *flies* And I'm here! =]

Yep, this sounds rather interesting especially being based on Greek mythology and their gods. Let's see what we can do here, perhaps you should give us more info one some things so it would be easier to help you? So to say, I can't help you with city names or anything unless you give us a vague (at least) description of that subject.

Do you have any ideas for the cities? Could you give us some description?

I had a different idea regarding the gyms. Also, try changing the name from gyms into something else? Since it's apparently set in old times, perhaps should gyms be called differently?

    1. Erebus Shrine; guardian of the night and darkness; wields over dark types and moon-related creatures.
    2. Terra Shrine; guardian of earth; trains rock and ground typed monsters.
    3. Zephyrus Shrine; guardian of sky and winds; trains flying type creatures.
    4. Theseus Shrine; guardian of the sea; trains water typed creatures
    5. Hephaestus Shrine; guardian of the fire and craft; trains fire and steel typed creatures.
    6. Pan Shrine; guardian of the nature and trains grass/bug creatures.
    8. Eros Shrine; guardian of love and beauty; trains cute, seemingly weak but tough Pokémon.
    8. Apollo's Shrine; guardian of the sun and light; trains dragon types

    - professor; Favian

Dunno about the characters though. Try the random name generator? :O

Tough choice, what is their exact goal? What do they wish to succeed with releasing the Gods? :/

Well since those will be based on the Twelve Olympians, it shouldn't be so hard. I'll let you know when I think of something, okay?

    I hope I was of some help. ^^;

I haven't really thought too much on what the cities look like yet. I’m trying to upload my map and add details to it, but I’m having a bit of an issue with that :P The starting town however will be the capitol city: a huge bustling place, with a castle in the middle of the city and the chambers all around it. Many rich people work and live there. There’ll be a religious shrine towards the back of the city.

I do like these names and the idea of doing a shrine :) As I said above, the Gym Leaders are more like Lords and Ladies. I could make them Oracles, Philosophers, that sort of thing as well. I may call them Shrine’s, but I will probably change the first part of the names slightly to not directly link them to the Greek Gods but hint at them instead.

They wish to succeed what most of the groups want: domination. I haven’t fully got the mythology worked out, but the Gods were getting violent and getting into a war. Arceus put them in the Mountain for mankinds own good, and hoped that the humans would mind them, stop them from getting out. The group wants to release them and control them, use them to terrorize people and overthrow the royal family.

You were of a lot of help, I appreciate it :D

Acropola City? Just a suggestion, or Acropolis City.

Philosophers and Oracles sound nice. Sure, change whatever you want! =D

Blood Oracle? Since they want to sacrifice the princes and everything. XD

...I don't suppose you would like an actual, physical map? I'd be willing to submit something in that regard...

@Tsutarja : Acropola sounds nice :) I might call the Mountain that ;) Blood Oracle sounds like it could work. I definitely like Oracle.

@Master Mew: :O Well I'll be a son of a gun.... That is frucking fantastic! Im hoping you didnt whip that up just for me, as that is amazingly detailed! I do have a map that is hand drawn and was planning to paint it tonight, but would you possibly be able to turn my map into one like that? That map would be amazing, if only I had enough stuff to fill it up with :P

Em, for the villianous group an idea to be thrown would be the Titans? The Titans were a race of god-like deities. They were ruled over by Cronus, who was the son of Uranus and Gaia. While the Titans ruled there was an era of peace and tranquility, but that didn't last long. Cronus was given news that his children would over him just like he had overthrown his father. Enraged Cronus ate his children, Hades, Posiedon, Demeter, Hera and Hestia. But Rhea, Cronus's wife, hid Zeus in Mount Ida, Crete. Rhea gave Cronus a rock wrapped in blankets to eat, which he swallowed without question. When Zeus grew up he revolted against his father. Freeing his fellow gods and winning the Titan War (Short Version, Very Short).

This might help you with your villians. It's just an idea. If you want anymore inforamtion on the Titan War or other myths just post or drop me a VM.

    Pokémon:

Harpies: A cross between a Harpie and a Pie. Bad pun FTW.

    (For the Main legendary)
    Titod: Dark/Light (New Type) : A cross between the two V. E.s

    (Pairs (V. E.))

Titik: Dark: A winged Chimera that has been coloured black. It's special feature is Time Travel. It is in no way good, and it's ability means it will disobey all it's masters unless that master owns the other member of it's Duo (or Titod)
Titak: Light (New Type) : A winged Chimera that is purely Albino White. It's main feature is Universal Travel. It is in no way bad, but will still disobey those it doesn't trust. Once it sees you have caght it's Evil twin (Titik) or it's master (Titod) then it will obay you.

Also, if you make this in the Public Domain, I'd love to write a Sub-Story of this.

I did, actually. It was no trouble, I do random artwork in-between roleplays; keeps the boredom at bay.

Sure, I could do that. Shoot me a scan and I'll see what I can do.

@dinoking0000: That is a brilliant idea! :D I may use the names of the titans as the names the Oracle's top members. I read a bit of Percy Jackson and take Classical Studies, so I know a bit about this, but I hadn't thought of doing something like that! :D

@Transform: I do already have my fifteen legendary ideas, but I do like the idea of having paired Pokemon that can't be tamed :) Would you, or anyone else for that matter, be interested in naming several Pokemon?

    Dark: Panther - Two stages
    Normal/Steel: Gazelle - two stages
Fire/Psychic or Dark: Red Panda - Three stages (Cub that crawls, middle stage that kind of walks on its hind legs, tall, long tailed final evolution that can walk)
    Rock: Cyclops - 2-3 stages
    Type Undecided: Minotaur
    Water/Possibly another type: Hippocampi - 2 stages
    Normal/Ground: Meerkat - 2 -3 stages

@Master Mew Wow, thank you for whipping that up! I sent through the scan I did:looking for to the end result.

Alright troops: thanks for everyone helping me out so far! Asides from helping name those critters above, does anyone have an ideas of a special place (eg cave, river, lake, well) or an event the Oracle Group could be doing?

Will edit as I think of names.

    Normal/Steel: Stisele
Fire/Psychic or Dark: Ridsern/Delsern/Mansern (referenced famous riddle)
    Rock: Cyclops - Einclops/Zweiclops/Dreiclops
Type Undecided (Ice?): Albatoes (Albino + Toes)
    Water/Flying: Cygpo
    Normal/Ground: Gastomp/Gasteam
I claimed Phoenix Wright 2001 ~ Pursuit Cornered.

@Transform: Interesting name ideas. Can I enquire to where they came from?

Also, I have my hand drawn map of Grejoca up! I'm working on adding where the city boundaries and that will be :)
