Snorlax finally finished off Shaymin with a final Ice Punch, but no it was really wounded and tired. "Go ahead and and take a Rest, Snorlax," I told him. I pulled out his Pokeball and called him back to its safe confines. Snorlax would be safe in there while it slept and regenerated its health. Since Infernape was still out I just moved forward towards the next cavern, and hopefully another challenge, but first I had to grab the two giant pumpkins Shaymin had left behind.

The next cave failed to yield anything of value, all that was there was an exit to the north. I walked into the darkness of the tunnel.

We walked into the next room and were greeted by a pool with a Tentacool and a dead-end. "Sorry 'Nape, you'll have to sit another one out. Alakazam you're up, start things off with Psychic!"

Quick as one can bat any eye the tall yellow humanoid Pokemon was there. Stoic and ready for combat as always. It turned its wizened eyes to stare at the blue blob of Tentacool. Tentacool had its brown tentacles underneath the water while its blue head and red poison patches were above the surface. The patches of red were affixed to either side of its head. With almost a casual flicker Alakazam fired off away a beam of sharp Psychic energy at the basic Pokemon.

The energy blade of Psychic struck Tentacool center-mass and did a ton damage to the Poison Pokemon, but it was not giving up with out a fight. It dived underwater, hidden from view. "Alakazam, use a Confusion attack when you have shot."

Alakazam tilted its head to the side in acknowledgment and moved forward, until the water covered his knees. It then closed its eyes and opened its mind up to the psychic energy in the room. With the energy it could detect life presences the harder it concentrated. It had been doing that for now more than five seconds when Tentacool sprang up from the water, a tentacle raised and glowing a purple color. With a sharp jabbing motion the Pokemon struck at Alakazam.

"Now, Confusion!" I called out as the Pokemon tried to dive back underwater.

When the final Confusion hit from Alakazam Tentacool was sent fleeing for the deeps. In its wake it left a bright yellow colored apricorn. Since the room was a dead-end and we could go any further I had Alakazam bring me the item and we went into the room we had previous come from.
No surprises awaited us in the room we had already visited. Since Alakazam was still a little damaged I returned him to the safety of his Pokeball and kept Infernape out.

We headed for the tunnel leading east.

Tunnel leading heading east opened up to reveal the same features of the last one, rock and more rock. Infernape hadn't battled much since we entered the cave and I could tell she was itching for a fight, especially after everyone else already got some strong battles. But since she wouldn't have had a significant advantage over the others, I hadn't called her out. Keeping her by my side was sort of an apology of mine meant to mollify her.

"We'll find something for you to battle soon," I said to the fire monkey. I pointed at my crudely drawn map, we should come to another cavern heading north shortly, we'll follow that one. We haven't been down there before, so some Pokemon should be there."

She nodded and we entered the next tunnel.

Infernape and I entered the next cavern in which had already been. It had exits heading north and south, and I already knew where the south exit would lead so that left my only option as North. I turned to look at Infernape and came within an inch of getting my eyebrows singed off by her mane of fire. "We're going to be heading down the north tunnel and we've never been there before. That means be prepared for any Pokemon we might run across, legendaries included."

The Pokemon grinned at me and cracked its hairy knuckles, hard.

"Nice enthusiasm." And we headed north.

When we entered the cave I wasn't disappointed in the wait for a Pokemon. In the cave was a small round purple creature with a closed red bulb on its head. It was the Grass Pokemon Gloom. "Look, a Gloom," I said aside to Infernape. "This should be something you take easily enough." Infernape had a total feral look one her face, she was ready to battle the Pokemon. I almost felt sorry for Gloom, almost. "Let' start things off with a simple Flamethrower attack."

The words had scarcely left my mouth before Infernape let loose with a jet of flame. The toxic liquid dripping from Gloom's mouth splattered around as it turned to face the attack.

When the Gloom turned towards its face displayed no emotion, just the disinterested face of your typical Gloom. Its red bulb was doing something though. It switched color to a rich purple and the tip opened ever so slightly. From the tip came purple globs of a toxic material that it fired at the Flamethrower of Infernape. The purple of Sludge Bomb and the red of Flamethrower met halfway between the two and produced a small explosion that pushed both Pokemon back a few feet. I had to shield my eyes from the all the dust and smoke, but when I could see again I saw that Gloom had sustained more damage than Infernape had.

"One more attack should finish it off, go with Flame Wheel this time around."

Infernape did a monkey screech and was immediately coated in wall of flame, the heat so intense that I could feel it many feet away. Infernape charged the Gloom.
