    Default Re: Capture Contest: Buoysel.

    OOC: Haunter is male, please.

The sun was rising in the sky, the light illuminating the horizon, stretching over the vast region that was Johto. In the south-west of the region lay a seaside city that went by the name of Olivine, home to one of the world's greatest lighthouses, which provided light to the many ships that passed by at night. The most famous of those ships was the S.S. Anne, which made routine trips from Olivine City to Vermilion City in Kanto. The S.S. Anne also was a ship that was battled on, and as such it was one of the finest of its kind, frequently subjected to much torment thanks to the intense battles that its cargo consisted of. Buoysel, the main man of this tale, had taken trips on the S.S. Anne before, and he had enjoyed it immensely, battling alongside many of his Pokémon to take down those of other people, and, frankly, he nearly always won. He wasn't the most confident of trainers, but he was certainly quite impressive.

Buoysel felt like today was any other day, really. Nothing exciting was happening in his life at the moment, and he wasn't planning on going anywhere. He simply woke up in his home, located in Olivine City. It wasn't special. He stretched himself out across his bed, splaying his body lazily as his mind refused to let him to get up. He felt like having another one of those lazy days, although he knew he probably shouldn't. He could maybe go for a walk on the beach today or something. He could travel to somewhere in Johto, perhaps go for a stroll in Johto's National Park, or look at the Safari. He could fly to Kanto on a Pokémon, and take in the sights and sounds in a town over there. That was what it was like being an ambitious trainer -- not knowing where to go next. He had already finished his conquest of the Johto League, and he was progressing through Kanto's. Today, however, was not really a day for training of any kind.

He sighed, stirring himself into action reluctantly. Tossing the covers off of himself negligently, he simply slided across his bed, slipping into the wooden chair sat opposite his desk. Pulling the chair in a little closer, he pressed the on button to his computer, and the machine whirred into life. The screen flickered for a moment, the brand name of the company who had made the computer flashing onto the screen, and then disappearing just as quickly. As the computer loaded up, a blue screen was displayed, the Windows logo (yes, Windows even exists in the Pokémon world!) popped up onto the screen for a moment, and then Buoysel clicked on the Buizel icon beside his name. Buizel weren't actually native to Johto, interestingly enough, but Buoysel had encountered one while his Pokégear's radio had been playing 'Sinnoh Sound'. That was surprising enough, and Buoysel found that he rather had an affinity for the Pokémon. He liked the species a lot, and had one of his own -- the Buizel was one of his prized Pokémon. Tapping a few keys, black circles showed up under his login, and he finally pressed enter. The password box dissapeared, and a message came up to notify him that his personal settings were loading.

Once his desktop background had loaded -- a path with dying trees on either side, bending to autumn's will. Leaves were strewn all over the path in varying shades of brown, red, yellow and orange. Buoysel thought that the picture was actually rather pretty, and rather enjoyed the image. He clicked on a multi-coloured icon that was at the top-left of his screen, a rather unnoticeable thing, really, although it had vivid colours. The icon was two circles, a larger one, and then a smaller one in the centre of the larger one. The larger one had three colours to it -- a soft yellow, a piercing green and a startling red, while the middle circle was a rather peaceful blue colour that really set the icon off. In any case, Buoysel clicked on that icon. A simple page with many tabs loaded up, and he quickly hit the page of the National Park -- not Johto's, but the one that was discovered by Farnsworth many years ago. The one where many Pokémon were captured in the seven different main areas of the place. They were holding a Capture Contest today in Meteor Valley! Buoysel quickly signed himself up, typing in his details. He deliberated for a moment strategically. What would be the best Pokémon to take with him? But it hit him quickly -- Cassidy, his Clefable. She had the widest range of moves of his Pokémon, and could deal a lot of elemental damage, inflcting many statuses upon wild Pokémon and the like. Very useful for the purposes of this Capture Contest. So it was decided -- Cassidy would be coming with him.

He quickly logged out of his computer, leaping up from his seat as fast as he could. He stripped himself of his outer layers, quickly throwing other clothes on. Excitedly, he streamed through the door, nabbing Cassidy's Poké Ball before he left, the red-and-white sphere reacting and wobbling at his touch, but not breaking open. He slid down the stairs quickly, dashing out of the door while he strapped his satchel over a shoulder. As he burst from the front door of his house, he energetically flung the Poké Ball into the air. It broke open then, shedding a white light as it split. The white light blasted to the ground, impacting on it without making any marks. The white light seemed to build into a figure, although it was quite bright to look at. He smiled as the pink Pokémon materialised in front of him, and she twirled energetically, coming to face him. She gave a massive grin in his direction, her eyes brightening as she realised he had a task for her. She, like him, was a very jolly Pokémon, and Buoysel was extremely glad to have a companion along with him that would not make his trip through Meteor Valley so dull. The valley was actually a quite morbid location in his opinion, and he didn't much enjoy going there, as it was a bit grim for his tastes -- a rather happy person, the grimdark atmosphere cramped his flow.

"All right, Cassidy! We're going to a Capture Contest in the National Park -- Meteor Valley!" he cried melodramatically, flinging his arms everywhere. "Use Teleport to get us there!" He put his hands in his pockets, preparing himself for the unpleasant sensation of the teleportation that the Clefable put him through.

"Cleeeee--" she began, her body becoming outlined in white. She grasped onto Buoysel's trousers quickly, feeling herself leaving the dimension. "FABLE!"

The two figures disappeared from their previous location in front of the Olivine house, zooming through space in a matter of seconds, rather than the minutes and hours it would have taken to properly travel to the place. But teleportation was a much quicker form of travel. Buoysel had his eyes screwed shut, feeling like he was being forced through a tube for something the size of a Skitty. He feared that, if he opened his eyes, they might have been squeezed from his head. He just endured the feeling for the moments it took to whiz through undimensionality, but suddenly, his head was clear, and his body was freed from its tight constraint. He opened his eyes, blinking as he adjusted to the dull light of Meteor Valley, which was undoubtedly a little brighter than the back of his eyelids. He stretched for a moment to regain proper feelings in his muscles. Cassidy watched, unperturbed -- she had had a perfectly pleasant time with teleporting here, soaring through the strange dimension she could easily tap into at will. She felt powerful there, almost as if she could make stars or bend the sun to her will. She smiled as he regained his proper posture, and the two of them walked onwards. They entered a cave, apparently enough.

All of a sudden, however, a large Ghost-type Pokémon appeared in front of the duo, almost prompting Cassidy to excrete upon the very floor! It was a purple, shadowy Pokémon, with a sort of rounded body. Its hands, each with three digits, were not attached to the rest of its body, making the creature look very eerie indeed. Spikes protruded from either side of its face wildly, poking anywhere and everywhere, with some kind of tuft hanging below them. Triangular, white eyes looked disdainfully upon the pair, and Buoysel gulped a little. It grinned at them both gruesomely, its teeth also purple and its maw none too clean. It was a Haunter, in other words -- a rather rare creature, and Buoysel was excited to have encountered one. Only just having gotten to the Capture Contest area and encountering such a good creature? That must have been good news for him. Additionally, the Ghost-type wouldn't be able to hurt Cassidy with its strongest Ghost-type moves -- inversely, however, Cassidy could not use her powerful Normal-type moves to affect the Haunter, which pretty much put them at a stalemate. However, Cassidy had came with more raw power than the Haunter as a result of its evolution, which gave them both a little advantage -- Buoysel would have to play on that if he was serious about capturing the Haunter, which, of course, he was.

"All right, Cassidy, looks like we've got ourselves a battle already! I wouldn't worry, though, if I were you -- since you're a Normal-type Pokémon, the Haunter cannot touch you. To start things off, try using Calm Mind to boost your special attack -- again, don't worry. I'm pretty sure the boost won't knock him out -- he'll probably withstand about two strong hits with a boost. After using Calm Mind, try to spray some Toxic in a circle around him, and then set it alight with a Flamethrower -- there's nothing flammable here, so I wouldn't get too concerned about setting something on fire. That should incarcerate the Haunter, limit its movements. Try not to make the Toxic circle too small, however -- I might need you to Teleport in there. Good luck!" Buoysel flashed a comforting smile at the Clefable, who was looking not too confident in her trainers' choice in moves. However, she supposed that creativity was a major part in judging, and so his moves may have been well-placed.

    "Clef!" she replied, feigning enthusiasm.

Haunter starts the battle first and uses Scary Face, trying to intimidate Clefable. The move hits and Clefable takes more time to attack, scared of the Haunter. Clefable used Calm Mind and a light pink shield planted itself into the ground in front of her, protecting from any attacks, and also amplifies the power of outgoing attacks., Haunter starts to shake his finger from left to right. Haunter channels energy threw his finger, and suddenly it flies off before being absorbed by Celfable. That was the move Taunt. Clefable tries to use Toxic however a dark ghostly aura shoots out from Clefable's body, surrounding the Fairy Pokemon. Haunter winked and started to form a small light blue ball in his hand. He opened his mouth and started to blow air through the light blue ball. The ball acted as an amplifier and and enhanced the power of the wind. As the wind passed through the ball, parts started to solidify and form small ice crystals. The ice crystals collided into Celfable. Clefable started to move slower, almost like the cold wind was freezing up her joints, making it hard to move quickly. Clefable replied by opening up her mouth and producing a large flame. When the attack was ready, Clefable fired the flame through the shield, which enhanced the flames and the power, directly towards Haunter. The flame smashed into Haunter, sending the Ghost Pokemon flying back. When Haunter got back onto its feet, it looked forward at Clefable and smirked. However he quickly felt a burning sensation in his body. Haunter was burned.

    Default Re: Capture Contest: Buoysel.

OOC: Without any tricksy hobbitses crap, this is a capture post. Yes indeedy. I have Haunter coming in at 5.78% at the end of BubbleBeam + Burn damage, double-checked by myself and our dear friend PichuBoy. SO YEAH. Also, yes, I am crazy -- this post is definitely 20,199 characters. I could have gotten myself a Hard-ranked 'mon with this post. Maybe. Then again, Gastly is a Hard-ranked Pokémon.

I self-calced the rate (no sleep or quality bonus) at 124%. I JUST HOPE THAT STICKS.

Haunter moved off almost immediately before Buoysel's Clefable could, glaring down upon the fairy-like Pokémon in what he probably considered his most scary expression. Buoysel wasn't much intimidated by this, although he knew what it was -- Scary Face. Haunter was using it to slow Cassidy down -- Scary Face was a particularly nasty move that harshly impeded the movements of the target Pokémon, and Buoysel could tell now that the Pokémon was trying to weaken up Cassidy so that she would be easier to conquer. He knew that he was mainly doing this because he couldn't actually do much against the Clefable other than try to be tricksy with the Normal-type. Buoysel knew, however, that the dropped speed wouldn't make much of a difference in this. If Buoysel didn't want to knock the Haunter out, he needed to be extremely careful of what he did in the battle, otherwise he could find that the creature was floating, unconscious, at his feet. In any case, Buoysel knew that the creature could take one or two boosted attacks from the Clefable, but not much else, which was why he had decided on the tactics that he'd chosen. However, these tactics didn't inspire much confidence in the usually-enthusiastic Cassidy, who knew that something was bound to go wrong, although she couldn't accurately convey this opinion to him -- after all, he didn't actually understand the language of Pokémon, the same as most humans. Sure, he could make pretty educated guesses, but other than that, he didn't have a clue what Pokémon were really trying to say unless they could psychically converse with him, like his Sigilyph could. The Ghost- and Poison-typed Pokémon was still keeping down that heated glance upon Cassidy, and she didn't like it much, in all honesty. The intimidating stare was a little bit much for her usually compassionate and jolly nature, and she found herself a little deteriorated through fear of the Pokémon that was trying his beast to weaken Cassidy and make her an easier opponent. The light pink Pokémon simply stared back at her opponent, lost in that glance. She felt alone, afraid. She shuddered, her mind being forced back into the past, before she had met Buoysel...

The moon had risen into the air, and the chill of midnight had set in. She was wondering by herself, all alone in the middle of nowhere. She had no companions back then, no-one to keep her safe. She was simply a traveller of her own, going from place to place -- usually, she found shelter with some loving families at night, but moved on the next morning. However, she had unintentionally strayed from the towns within the region, and she was unable to find her way back. She had inadvertently landed herself in the midst of a dark forest, a breeze tickling her spine and making her shiver. The canopy of the forest made it hard to see the moon and stars, so she could not find her own way along. She was lost and afraid to say the least -- although she was trying to tough it out. She hated being by herself, however, especially at night-time, which was why she always sought the shelter of others, and sometimes hitched rides with humans or fixed a deal with other Pokémon -- she was irresistibly cute, so why not? She had learned to communicate herself to humans, although not directly. Since all humans usually had Pokémon, she could state her plight to them, and the Pokémon's bond with humans allowed them to convey this plea, so she got around pretty easily. Now, though, she was in an utter state of confusion -- she wasn't even aware that she had lost the path so quickly, and now she had trundled into a forest, unprotected from the predators of the night. She was hoping that nothing serious laid around the corners, although she knew that one could never know about these things. She was cautious, quiet. She tiptoed through the thicket, trying not to make any noise.

That was up until, unfortunately, she lost her balance from tiptoeing and clumsily snapped a branch. Cursing herself for making such an idiotic mistake, she began to move more swiftly, giving no thought to the fact that she could have been attracting every predator in a fifty-mile square radius from her. She was busy as a Combee -- two Combee -- trying to escape from the mad hellhole. She was stopped in her tracks, however, by none other than a Pokémon woven from shadow that was much larger than her. She was only but a Cleffa, unused to opponents so large -- although she wielded many moves, she was not great at trying to beat large opponents. It was a Gengar -- its horrible eyes looked down upon her, locking her into place. Scary Face. She simply stood there, feeling that she was dwindling into nothing under the spiteful glare of that Gengar. She didn't know how to escape from it, escape from the dread that filled every fibre of her being, filling her up until she wanted to scream at the top of her lungs. She was drowning in fear, drowning in fright. She tried to move away, but she was too slow -- the fear that the stare had induced in her was almost inescapable, and it had seemingly incapacitated her. Her agility and speed was reduced harshly, and she could barely move to save her life. However, she tried to trudge on, but the Gengar hovered in front of her as she tried to flee, blocking her off. It seemed to want to toy with the Cleffa, toy with how she was feeling. That was not something she enjoyed. It was too much. She screamed out loud.

She snapped back to reality, the memory strengthening her somewhat. She didn't have to give in to this Haunter as she had once given into that Gengar. That would be unforgivable. She wouldn't be able to forgive herself. She knew that, now, the absolute fear wouldn't make her unable to move -- she could still move, and still fight. Keeping that spirit, she closed her eyes. She began to glow in a pink aura, her body being surrounded by the psychic energy that she drew in from her surroundings, gaining a power increase as well as a defensive boost against all the special attacks that Haunter could throw at her -- she was hoping that he didn't wield something like Focus Blast, however, or she would be in some trouble. However, this was only a trifle to her right now -- she was clearing her mind of all thoughts, calming herself down. This, after the Scary Face and the horrific flashback, was a good idea -- the fear wouldn't infest her mind, inundate her being. She would still be slow, of course, but that would be nothing compared to what it would be like if she had that scaredy-cat worry nagging at her mind. The pink aura strengthened, almost becoming like a mental shield to her -- as well as defending against incoming attacks, it amplified outgoing attacks. However, she wouldn't be directly attacking her opponent -- not yet, anyway. Buoysel's plan would be incomplete if she tried that, and she liked to help her Trainer as much as she could -- he had, after all, rescued her once, and she practically owed him her life. As a Pokémon, that was a very hard thing to repay, but she thought that, if she participated and won enough battles for him, that that would counterbalance, and she would be on evens with her trainer for saving her life. In any case, as she finished off her move, the glow died down, and she was left there, feeling a little stronger than she was. The fear didn't seem to drag at her as much.

At this stage, Haunter had been preparing his own move -- a non-damaging one, it seemed -- and he was ready to utilise it. One of his disembodied purple hands began to glow with a dark aura, and he outstreched an ethereal finger, trying to attract the attention of Clefable. He waggled it a little bit, and the dark aura seemed to outstretch to Cassidy. The Haunter, whilst waggling his finger, was stringing a lot of insults at Cassidy -- and, after the previous display, she really wasn't happy. She tried to use Toxic, but the aura had extended into her by now, and the words that Haunter had uttered -- whatever they were -- did not please Cassidy at all. In fact, she was so enraged by what the Haunter had done to her that she couldn't think straight on the next attack, which was supposed to be Toxic. Ideally, a poisonous substance should have gurgled in her throat, and it usually burned her throat a little, but not damagingly enough to harm her or anything. Plus, her Magic Guard ability didn't make her take indirect damage, so that meant that she wasn't able to be damaged by any Toxic, let alone her own. After it building up, she was meant to trail it along the floor, perhaps projecting it if she needed to. However, Taunt was an attack that did not allow the use of non-damaging moves, and the substance that had infested her insured this, pushing the plans for Toxic far out of her mind. She wanted to skip to the next attack on the list, inflict damage on the Haunter -- which meant that, really, Haunter was in for a world of pain that he had brought upon himself. Buoysel didn't wish that upon any Pokémon, but Haunter had bought himself a one-way ticket into this happening to him, and Buoysel was sort of sad because of that.

At this stage, though, whilst Cassidy was still fuming, Haunter decided to make yet another move, which wasn't going to be any sort of good news for Cassidy. He closed his eyes for a minute, just concentrating -- Cassidy was a little too distraught to be doing anything yet, as she was too busy being outraged by what the Haunter had just said to her, and the energy that had just infused her soul, making her more aggressive than she naturally was. Buoysel was a little concerned for her wellbeing at this point -- all he wanted was for the Normal-type to calm down and carry on with their plan. If she went on like this for too long and attacked with gay abandon, then Haunter would definitely find himself knocked out, and as a result, Buoysel wouldn't be able to capture the damned thing. Why was the Pokémon being so tricky? He really hated it when wild Pokémon thought they were all clever by messing about, but they really were not. They were just trying to cause unneccessary mischief -- if they squared up to things and battled them like they really should, then things would be a little more interesting. Buoysel wasn't surprised that Cassidy was fuming about, in all honesty -- if he was subject to the things that Haunter was trying to pull over, then he'd be furious as well. Pull the other one, it's got bells on it, Buoysel thought bitterly, glaring at the Haunter, who still had his eyes closed for whatever reason. The breeze that was making him shiver a little grew a little stronger, and he realised what was going on. The wind swirled over to Haunter's side, where it began to grow frosty -- you could practically see the ice particles in it. Buoysel ducked down before he could shoot it -- he didn't want to be subject to that immense cold.

"Cassidy, watch it!" he yelled, but it was no use. The poor creature was lost in her own world, and as the Haunter outstretched his disembodied hands, the wind was forced towards her, and it nearly buffeted her off her feet. The frost settled into her bones, chilling her deeply. Her joints began to creak up, and combined with the earlier Scary Face move, that left her as a very, very slow Pokémon. Her speed was probably about two-fifths of what it should have been right now, and Buoysel couldn't really afford that. However, the Icy Wind attack seemed to lift her from her senses a little, and she was at least clear enough now to try and attempt the attack that Buoysel had previously commanded of her. She brought in heat energy from all around her, focusing it into her body -- it wouldn't warm her up, sure enough, but it would help her create the flames that were needed for the Flamethrower attack that she was about to perform. The Flamethrower burned up in her throat, the flames tingling her tongue as they danced through her mouth lightly, not affecting her in the slightest -- but they sure would affect the Haunter. She launched the flames from her mouth, and the Haunter was too busy congratulating himself to notice that a full-throttled, boosted Flamethrower was heading his way. So, of course, he took the full brunt of the move, and he was blasted back into a cave wall. He managed to stay floating in the air, although for how long, no-one could be quite sure. Buoysel could tell that that one single attack had dealt a whole lot of damage, so he'd have to be careful from here on out. When Haunter had regained his balance, he smirked a little -- but it was wiped from his face as the burning effect of the flames lingered. Cassidy, somehow, had managed to burn the Haunter.

"All right, Cassidy!" Buoysel shouted firmly, trying to get his voice imprinted into Cassidy's brain. She needed to pay attention to him, rather than being infuriated by the Haunter. "First, use BubbleBeam! It won't affect the Haunter that much: no need to worry! However, it'll speed up the process with him being burned and everything, so that we can capture him a bit sooner. After that, try using Sing! It's a little risky, but Taunt will have worn off by then -- hopefully, Sing will hit. If it doesn't, then it doesn't matter all that much. Just try your best.

BubbleBeam was a rather special attack in that it hardly ever missed -- Cassidy was able to produce the bubbles from nowhere, it seemed, and she wielded power over them. She could easily guide them to her opponent, and under the effects of Taunt, this would be no problem for her -- plus, it was a little better than using a Normal-type move that didn't affect the Haunter, and then trying to stall. Buoysel's plan indeed did have its merits, although things could go terribly wrong if the Haunter wasn't captured on the first try. That was why Buoysel needed as much luck on his side as he could get -- however, he had been quite unfortunate so far in this battle, although it was a little early to judge that. In any case, the bubbles would probably hit Haunter, and, although a little pitiable, it was still some free damage on the Haunter, and that was all he needed -- it made it that much easier to capture the damned thing, which was precisely what he wanted to do. For the purposes of the Capture Contest, Haunter, under both Burn and Sleep, was an extremely good capture for the thing, and it would put him that much closer to the top position, which was exactly where he wanted to be -- after all, he wouldn't have entered this competition if he wasn't serious about winning, right? Cassidy was exactly the kind of Pokémon that could guide him to that victory.

Sing was a rather risky move to try under the circumstances -- there was no guarantee that Cassidy wouldn't be put under Taunt once more by the rather prankster-like Haunter, or even that Sing would hit the Pokémon. Buoysel was definitely relying a lot on luck, here, and he just hoped that his gambles would pay off. Sing was a very inaccurate move, and in most battles, it was never even considered -- however, Buoysel thought it was kind of a sheer desperadoes situation going on, and desperate times called for desperate measures. If it did hit, that would be perfect -- if not, he would manage. In any case, Buoysel would probably capture the Pokémon, although whether it would be a safe capture or not, he wasn't sure. At this point, it wasn't guaranteed -- there were so many things that could go wrong, here, although he hadn't commanded any moves that could produce unexpected results. It was extremely unlikely, also, that Cassidy could have been knocked out. If Sing failed, then sure, that was okay. He had handled failure of status before, alongside his Chimecho, although he had strained to rectify the situation at the time...

As soon as Buoysel had issued his commands, the Munchlax's face distorted into one of extreme determination. It bit its lip as it focused. Chimey, jingling, had floated closer to the Munchlax.

    Then, the battle had began.

Chimey, overexcited as usual, whipped her ribbon-like tail around in a circular motion, causing her to emit some noise from time to time. Then, there was a yellow energy forming in a circle as she traced the shape over and over again. As the outline grew stronger, Buoysel noted that it began to crackle with electricity. Buoysel had taught her to use it this way, as it was extremely unexpected and kept the opponent guessing what was going on until the attack hit. Buoysel, smirking, watched Chimey as she released the paralysing ring of electricity towards the Munchlax, who seemed to be awaiting Chimey's move before making one of his own.

The ring bolted towards Munchlax, who appeared to make no effort at all to move. He stood there, seemingly dumbfounded, at the yellow ring which collided with his body. As soon as it had clashed into his fur, a yellow colour spiralled around his body, crackling with electricity also. Munchlax was paralysed - Buoysel could see that clearly enough. However, he moved one of his hands, delving into his fur with quite a lot of agility considering his condition. He smiled deviously as he pulled out a round object, which Buoysel could only guess was a berry. He threw it up high into the air. When it came back down, he opened his large mouth wide and the berry zipped straight into his gullet. Munchlax swallowed, and the effect was almost instantaneous. Within seconds of eating the berry, the indications of paralysis that had been slowly spiralling around his body faded out of existence.

The Munchlax was no longer paralysed. Buoysel whistled in surprise, slapping his hand onto his thigh. Thunder Wave, on the whole, had failed. It had barely even stalled Munchlax.

"It's okay, Chimey!" Buoysel cheered encouragingly, waving one of his arms in the air. "Keep going!"

Then again, he had actually rectified that.

"Chimey, use Thunder Wave on him now, seriously!" Buoysel urged the chirpy little Wind Chime Pokémon. Cassidy took up her clapping once more.

Keep your panties on, I'm doing it now! I'm, like, really tired! Chimey replied, her thoughts leaving a strange imprint of frustration in Buoysel's brain. Buoysel threw the notion of apology into her mind, and hoped she'd understand that he was quite stressed as well. Of course, she did - their brains were well-trained to understand each other and how they felt in any given situation. They could read each other better than they could read books.

Chimey was moving onto the climax of their current plan at this stage, although Buoysel secretly knew that their efforts wouldn't be enough to secure them a capture. Buoysel judged it at around 50-50 after paralysis, so he began to quickly formulate their next attack upon the Munchlax, who would indeed make a nice addition to Buoysel's rather truthfully inexperienced team. She flicked her tail towards Munchlax, concentrating with all her might on the electrical paralytic waves that she knew she could generate. The familiar electrifying sensation slipped through her tail, and she knew she had been successful in generating them at this stage. The thick, bright yellow waves simply crackled with energy and zapped the Munchlax, granting the large mass of blue fur with a major hindrance to his performance in battle. Buoysel slowly stepped forwards, wondering what would be thrown at Chimey next by the pesky thing.

Buoysel was really just hoping at this stage that some kind of fiasco did not repeat itself once more, because that would be more than he could handle -- for example, if Haunter was somehow knocked out, he thought that he'd probably explode or something. It didn't matter so much if Sing missed, because the amount of damage that would have been caused by BubbleBeam and Burn combined would have been significant enough to probably warrant a guaranteed capture, which was definitely what he wanted. Buoysel was sort of hoping, though, that Sing would hit -- that, without a shadow of a doubt, would boost his capture to the best levels possible. He waited on Cassidy to move.

He delved into his satchel for a moment, pulling out a Super Ball. He'd be using that whenever Cassidy had finished, whether Sing worked or not.

Haunter started off using Thunderbolt, luckily Clefable wasn't paralysed. Clefable retaliated back with Bubblebeam, a move which could lower the opponents speed, however didn't. After being bombarded with bubbles, Haunter used Hidden Power Poison, however it wasn't very effective. After withstanding the Hidden Power, Clefable started to sing a sweet lullaby. Haunter gradually drifted off to sleep.

You throw the Super Ball and hear a small click. Congratulations, your harsh Ranger replied.

You continued to walk down the cave, however a small psychic Pokemon popped its head out from a rock. Do you want to battle this Wynaut?

The Ball hit Haunter square on after the Pokémon fell asleep, and it only gave a few feeble shakes before a pinging noise resounded through the cavern. Buoysel gave a little cheer, happy that this capture had worked out -- especially happy that Sing had hit the Haunter. The Ball clicked for a moment, and Buoysel went to scoop the Ball up from the floor. A non-existent Ranger congratulated him, and he smiled at the non-existence of the darned thing. Depositing the Super Ball into his super-duper large pockets, Argent simply wandered on, wondering what to do now. However, after a few moments of dandering through the cave, another Pokémon decided to appear in front of him, gracing him with its presence. He sighed for a moment, and then removed his Pokédex from his pocket. He held it out towards the Wynaut, who cutely tried to reach it and bat at it with its stubby arms.

"Wynaut, the Bright Pokémon," the Pokédex spoke aloud. The Wynaut looked a little puzzled. "It tends to move in a pack. Individuals squash up against each other to toughen their spirits."

"Sounds like a fair deal," Buoysel said, shrugging. Cassidy simply looked at him, a little worn out from the battle with Haunter. "C'mon, Cassidy, let's move on from here."

Buoysel made to walk away from the Wynaut, Cassidy trailing along by his side.

You walk away from the Wynaut with out any hassel and walked deep into the cave.

After walking for a couple of minutes, you hear a voice behind you. It's the sound of Golurk, and has been following you since you encountered Wynaut. Do you want to battle.

They simply walked past Wynaut with swag, the blue creature still trying to reach out to Buoysel. However, he simply ignored it, and walked onwards through the cave. As he was walking, though, he could hear pretty bulky-sounding noises behind him, but he decided to eschew the noise for the time being -- it was probably just rocks rocking about or something. No need to worry, right? It wasn't going to be, like, a Golurk or anything. Clefable simply trotted by his side. Although her ears picked up the noise in a lot sharper details than Buoysel's -- and she knew, in fact, that there actually was a Golurk lurking behind them -- she decided not to warn her trainer, as he was clearly not alarmed enough to turn around yet. Buoysel sighed a little, still trundling on through the cave, utterly bored. He kicked at loose rocks on the floor to pass the time as he walked along, but eventually, he heard some kind of louder, more creature-like noise behind him. He swivelled on the spot, turning to see what was happening.

A Golurk, of course, was standing there -- Buoysel realised that it had been following him ever since they had escaped from the Wynaut. The thing was actually gigantic, but he wasn't really interested in it. He had already had one, named Autobit, that he had traded for a friend's Tangrowth. Unfortunately, or fortunately, he had traded away the Tangrowth, too, for someone's Houndoom. So, Autobit was far into the past, but he didn't mind so much any more -- but that still didn't make him any more interested in the Golurk. This post doesn't make sense. Yeah.

    "Let's move on, Cassidy."

Golurk doesn't want you to leave and starts to curl up into a tight ball, a move called Defence Curl. What do you do??

Buoysel tried to walk onwards, but Golurk had somehow gotten in their path, and was blocking their way. It seemed a little sad, almost as if it didn't want the pair to leave, but Buoysel definitely wanted to leave the creature behind at this stage. It began to curl itself into a tight ball, and Buoysel simply stared at it as it did so, not really impressed with these antics. It clutched its features to itself, and Cassidy was also a little bit on the 'not amused' side. She was tired at the moment, and she simply wanted to leave that area. However, now that Golurk was busy being in a ball, Cassidy tugged at Buoysel's jacket, and he got the message -- now would be the perfect window for escape. They both began to walk, going to attempt to get past the Golurk. Hopefully, now, it would let them escape. Buoysel sighed -- today was going to be a very long day if every Pokémon along the way decided that they didn't want the two to move onwards.

"C'mon, Cassidy... let's go." With that, he began to edge cautiously away.

OOC: These posts are dwindling down into sheer insanity.

Buoysel tried to run away. He really did. He and Cassidy, in fact, were sprinting down the cavern, but the Golurk noticed this, and began to chase them. Buoysel kept yelling random swearwords at the Golurk to put it off, but it was not to be disturbed. It was, of course, too busy chasing them. While it was running (badly), Buoysel noticed that it started to glow a steely kind of colour. It was another defence-boosting move, and Buoysel knew it. It was all too familiar too him. Iron Defence. So, as well as Defence Curl, Golurk had now used Iron Defence -- that meant a lot of defence, of course. Buoysel sighed and stopped, which prompted the Golurk to stop. Cassidy also stopped. It was like a stopping festival. Panting, he stared at the Golurk, giving it his most stern look. Cassidy stared at Buoysel like he was a madman. Which, of course, he was. The Golurk simply stared back at him.

What is this, a staring contest? Buoysel thought, annoyed beyond belief. Cassidy tugged at his jacket once more, and Buoysel looked down at the Fairy Pokémon, who returned a concerned glance. She began to tug him away from the Golurk, and he followed her once more. The two set off at a bit of a jog, in fact. Buoysel trotted along, hoping that the Golurk didn't decide to follow them once more -- the final straw, however, would be if the damned Automaton Pokémon decided, "Hey, they're running away! I think I'll actually attack the Clefable instead of just sitting around like a lunatic and boosting my defence!" That would be a fiasco and a half. Argent looked around him like two short looking things as he jogged, to make sure the Golurk didn't follow him.

It seemed that Golurk was staying where he was, simply to boost his defensive statistics. Buoysel was sort of glad about that, because he had really hated the fact that the creature was tailing about behind him constantly, even going so far as to chase him. However, he had stayed where he was this time, thankfully, meaning Buoysel was able to jog along with Cassidy somewhere else in the cavern. The two were tiring of these bananas, and Buoysel simply didn't think he was going to be able to carry on for much longer in the cavern. He was hungry, he was thirsty, and the battle had left him with little energy left -- if he didn't know better, he would have eaten one of the Energy Powder packets that he was provided with. He was not interested in battling any other Pokémon any longer, now that the Haunter was captured. He was just so extremely exhausted, so he was rather glad when Golurk was no longer in sight or in earshot of them. Good riddance to the Automaton Pokémon, frankly. He was just glad to be shot of the big... blocky thing.

As they moved on, however, some floating thing crashed into Buoysel, almost knocking him over. It was a small, tan-and-red figurine-like Pokémon that was made out of clay or mud. It balanced on a single foot. To maintain this balance, it had two arm-like appendages that evened out its center of gravity, therefore making it more stable. It had a single spike-like protrusion on the top of its head, and its red body markings made its abdomen somewhat resemble a Poké Ball. Its eyes appeared to have arching red eyebrows, and seemed perpetually closed or encased in goggles. It was a Baltoy. A floating Ground-type. Like that made sense. Buoysel didn't say anything much -- rather, he simply fed a reviving Energy Powder to his Clefable, and then decided that it was time to move on.

"Let's run like the wind, Cassidy. The thing is bound to rape us or something."
