Default Separation of staff and regular users in blog comments

It is impossible to tell whose staff and whose not when viewing blog comments. The only reason I would know said person is a staff member, is because I knew this beforehand. But new users are not always aware of all the staff, and if said staff member warns them through a blog comment, how are they to know said person is a staff member?

Yes yes, they could click their names and visit their pages. But it is something I haven't quite understood yet-- why aren't staff names appropriately labeled in blog comments? It is something that just can't be done?

It's a minor change, but I feel its impact would be grand.

For that matter, the "latest reply" in the view forum page also has this problem, although it's less of a problem there as you're going to be viewing the page anyway.
The word "quadragonal" is the only word with "dragon" in it where "dragon" is not a root word. That makes it awesome.

As a staff member, I feel sort of negatively towards this. I don't feel like we need to make it obvious everywhere that I'm staff. Because sometimes I just want to be another user when I'm commenting on a blog or in a section that I'm not staff in.

It does sound kind of discriminating.

And it's not discriminating to label them everywhere else? Just in blog comments?

firstly, I'm not sure we can even change that.

secondly, we have a rule against mini-modding. people won't get confused by who's a mod and who's not if that rule is followed.

But even then, you wouldn't know if the rule were broken or not if you didn't check.

    That's probably what's confusing her/(him).

there's no excuse for not knowing the rules. There's not that many and they're pretty simple.

    Edit: Separation itself is impossible.

Sorry, I didn't know how to phrase the title. I meant showing whose who, like what is done everywhere else in the forum.

Would colored usernames be shown because that's the only possible way I can think of, although iirc majority of staff is against that.

Archaic himself is against that, so it's not likely to happen.

Staff are identified outside of that pretty well and its fairly easy to check out should you have doubts about whether or not is a part of the staff (italics/bold outside of blogs, Meet the staff thread, etc.)

Plus I agree, that it's discriminatory for the staff who want to just leave comments as regular users.

Also, when reading blog comments, it's easy to see who is staff because most of them have the larger avatars.

Well, even then, the rules are pretty blurry here and there, especially mini-modding. Where is the line between being helpful about the rules and trying to impose yourself on somebody else?

Even then, the person viewing the comments wouldn't know the rule was broken, if it was. This is whom we'd be doing it for.

We probably can by making small changes to the blog templates in vB4.
