I apologize if this idea has been tossed at you repeatedly, but I'd rather submit my idea and have it heard rather then remain rattling around in my head.
Basically, a Pokémon Massive Multiplayer Online RPG. However, where as every other idea wishes to merely utilize ideas already used, such as Pokémon Moon and Pokémon Online, I wish to focus more on the gameplay, make it similar to the actual games, but having the sprites actually move when attacking or being attacked, like the 3D Pokémon series. Battles would be fought from side view, while also appearing in the overworld where they would be observable if the action button is pressed. I would also like to allow custom appearances with trainers via a Character Creation System, so as to allow more immersion and imagination, unlike another Pokémon MMO where you were limited to the ingame trainers.
HMs and TMs, meanwhile, will all appear. Since there are different sets of TMs, each will be called Generation _ Technical Machine __ (or G_TM__ (G1TM02, for example)) while HMs will be in a National Dex sort of system, appearing in order of their first appearance and number. Movesets, meanwhile, will vary on the Pokémon, being able to have one of the various Generational Movesets rather then having a set moveset system. For example, if you and two friends caught a Pikachu each, one could learn Quick Attack at Lvl 16 (Gen1/2), while your first friends' Pikachu could learn it at 11 (Gen3) and the other at 13 (Gen4/5).
The game itself would be download, but connecting to the internet ala Minecraft Multiplayer. It would be free, while hopefully small, and updates would be based on games, though they would only be released at least a full year after the actual games release, so as to not 'steal sales' of the games by introducing the Pokémon of them in a free version. The server could be hosted upon here, where hopefully it would be a simple system to prevent overworking the thing, while allowing suggestions and OOC Conversation on what groups could do in the game.
There will be an easy Admin Story System, as well, where admins of the game can create new stories for the players. It will be hopefully simple, so as to minimize frustration and allow only one admin to make the story and put it in, though the other admins will have to vote on whether to put it into the game or not, so one admin doesn't decide to troll (hopefully that wouldn't happen anyway, but it's better to be safe rather then sorry) and introduce a troll story that the other admins could have prevented. There will also be an option to jettison a story currently 'in play', as well incase a troll story does slip through.
I am aware former, more simplistic games have been cancelled middevelopment. However, there are games out there, such as one 'Pokémon Azure and Amber', a fangame, which looks incredibly well put together by only two people and based on the actual games, which shows the concept is not as far fetched as multiple cancellations would have you believe, albeit single player and not the MMO I'm suggesting. I would advice working on the graphics later, once gameplay has been completed to playable levels. Placeholders from the games would be valuable, but not the perminant.
I am also aware of how long this project could take. I am in no way suggesting this would be a quick thing, but I'm sure if we were to pull our efforts together and not mess around it would be out a lot quicker then one would think. Of course that all depends on if the project were to recieve a thumbs up. If not, it would be understandable and I would merely focus my ideas elsewhere.
