Thread: Mobile Site

I use Bulbapedia to look up a lot of things in a number of situations where I do not have access to a computer; therefore, I naturally go to my phone. However, due to the nature of the site's design, Bulbapedia does not load quickly, even with WiFi. I think it would be a great idea to create a mobile version of the site that is optimized for smartphones and other mobile devices.

Mobile BMGf is actually fine for me, and I'm not sure how much is involved in this :x. Still, it's a good idea, nonetheless.

For Bulbagarden's wikis, I cannot say anything.

For the forums, starting with vBulletin 4.1.2, a built-in mobile version is available. We don't know yet whether we will use it or not, though.

I would like to see a mobile version of the site, for quick lookups on the wiki and forums. It's doable on a phone, but not the easiest. UP

Eh, if there was one, I'd prefer it to be very optional (with the link to the main site blatant).

The current "forum skin" mobile version is unfortunately, lacking in features. I think I would like a true mobile version when it's vB4. So I vote UP on the condition that I better be able to access VMs, blogs and images. Not all phones are incapable of images - in fact, these days, phones are quite capable, sometimes outspeeding a vintage PC. I expect more from the mobile version. And, maybe, we can set it so that it's not user-specific, but instead device-specific - the user can set different settings for different devices. Like the full version for PCs and fast-enough smartphones, reduced version for slower phones and/or Internet connections, and full mobile (the forum skin we have), no bells and whistles, for these small-display phones.

I've had little problem accessing it from my IPod. Why would we need a mobile site?

It would be better to have bulbapedia and the forums in App form it would be more user friendly and more accessible to it's users while on the go.

the main thing that bothers me about accessing bulbapedia through my phone is the having to go through the smart phones browser.

if we can code bulbapedia into app form the same way facebook and wikipedia has i would download it...

I dont use mobile but I think it would be good for users that do.
