Thread: Increase the avatar size

SMods could be 150x150 as well... 130 is so close, not sure why all staff shouldn't just be 150. I don't look forward to recreating 119 GIFs as 130x130.

Well I meant more like "give them 100 by 100 because they're regular members, and for members that have been here a really long time and that everybody knows by now but are still not staff members, expand their avatar size a little".

I'm pretty sure that 115x115 avatars will still work under a 130x130 limit...

I don't think we really want to place emphasis or importance on "veteran" status in that way. All regular members are treated equally.

Sure, but then they don't take advantage of the larger size, lol. So what's the point?

ALTERNATE SUGGESTION

After discussing this, I'd be willing to increase the limits for everyone. However, not everyone should get the same size. We like having defining features for our different ranks.

Regular Users get 120x120
Moderators get 130x130
Super Mods get 150x150
Admins get 200x200

In addition, the kb limit will be increased to the same max size across the board.

By people who "really earn it", I think Fluffy was referring to members who contribute a lot and rarely break the rules, aka really good members. I don't think join date should be variable.

@Saty: 200x200 is a little too much imo, but meh.

Any small increase would be nice. So i say UP

Well, by "everybody knowing them" and all that, I meant members that are, you know, considered upstanding and well-known.

Pretty much people who've earned it just by being really good members of the community.

Yeah, 200 X 200 seems big, but its not like every post is going to have it so same "meh" opinion as well

200x200 hasn't really been "big" since the mid 90s, IMO. It's a pretty common avatar size on many forums; and I don't see it posing any problems on BMGf. Especially given that the number of Admins is relatively small, so it shouldn't have a great impact, anyway.

But watch as it stretches the postbit... I'm pretty sure it would on vB4 too. Then the postbits would look inconsistent. Sure, not all the admins post that much, but some of them do post pretty frequently.

Also, 200 x 200 would be taller than the current signature limits. That would look pretty awkward, in my opinion.

As they are right now, it looks like the postbits have enough space for 175 pixels without being stretched further. So what about 170x170 or 175x175 for Admins?

I'm admittedly still a little reluctant to advocate a change in admins' size limits, but I'll deal with it.

ALTERNATE SUGGESTION:

Regular Users: 125x125
Mods and SMods: 150x150
Admins: 175x175

OR

Regular Users: 120x120
Mods: 130x130
Super Mods: 150x150
Admins: 175x175

Personally, 120x120 is enough for me.
