I must be a glutton for punishment because this is really going to be a joke. Everyone and their mother is going to pick Charizard, nevermind that Venusaur is the best Kanto Sarter both in game and competitively. If it doesn't look like a sad excuse for a dragon, it's not beating Charizard in the poll. Oh well, mostly I'm just tired of "Charizard vs Blastoise" threads. I've seen three so far. I thought it was time to mix it up a little.

Both these Pokemon are Starters, Kanto Starters to be precise. They're both the first members of their respective types in the Pokedex (if we include the prevos) and they're both strong choices to use in Kanto.

Venusaur is a Grass type Pokemon. He's versatile as all hell and he is considered one of the best Grass types in the game.

Charizard is a Fire type Pokemon. He's very strong on the Special side of things and he's one of the most popular Pokemon of all time.

Which do you prefer?

Who'd win in a fight?

Who's more useful?

In theory, I could accurately answer all three of these questions with Venusaur. In a battle, Venusaur could win with the right strategy, provided everything goes according to plan. Still, I'll concede that Charizard snags a win more easily. Venusaur is the evolved form of my favorite Pokemon, so of course I prefer him. He's also much more versatile than Charizard and doesn't suffer from any crippling 4x weaknesess, making him the more useful one in battle. In the field though, Charizard can fly, so if that means anything (to me it doesn't. I fly with Pidgeot anyway) then I guess he could win this category for you.

Anyway, Venusaur is my choice. Since I'll be the only one voting for him, at least I'll know someone likes him better than the overrated dragon.

I voted for Charizard... Because whenever I picked Venusaur as my starter, I'm always disappointed by it... Could be just me, but I prefer Charizard.

In all honesty... All Gen I Starters were disappointing in battle. Or I could be a bad trainer...

Venusaur all the way it was my first starter, it owned UU in gen 4 and now it's going to rock with it's new DW ability. Charizard is weak to to many common and hard hitting types and is overrated.

I love Venusaur for the reasons ya mentioned,
but then again; Charizard is ****ng CHARIZARD...!

And my vote goes to charizard.
BUT...As my defence: ONLY because the looks.
I've never been a fan of Venusaurs design, so...

But like I said: It's the ONLY reason for me to vote Charizard.

Venusaur for me.

Venusaur's versatile as all hell.
Charizard's overrated as all hell.

I just like Charizards appearance more than Venasaur. I don't like using eithe of them to be honest.

I prefer Charizard, mostly because of appearance.

Yeah, just wait until all the Charizard stans get a look at this thread and the poll. They'll be so pissed Charizard is losing that they'll vote en masse and order will be restored to the world.

-Easily wins in battle
-Has the far better design IMO
-Charizard Can fly, has good physical strength (by the anime), and can breath fire. What can Venusaur do?
-Charizard is a sly badass motherfucker
-While charizard and venusaur both got great DW abilities I feel charizard's is better. He already fits in speedwise and Solar power helps him in this gen's power creep. Venusaurs offensive powers are pretty bad.
-Charizard was my first starter and favorite pokemon.

Here's what Venusaur has, as a strategy for tearing down Charizard (assuming Sun is up): Chlorophyll (makes it faster than Charizard), Sleep Powder, Growth (both offensive stats rise 1 stage, 2 in the Sun), and the ability to kill Zard with Sludge Bomb (since it loses HP those first two turns to Solar Power, and Saur's at +2). Take that, you overrated dragon knockoff.

Charizard can do a fast kill, while venasaur will toy with its prey, insert poisen pollen into the beast and slowly take the damage while waiting for the poisen to effect Charizard until he loses the energy and ends up dying...

But charizard dosnent rely on weather or a horrible accuracy move (or the sleep clause if it's already activated). He gets the kill much more.

I like Venasaur, just becasue I never really did like charizard at all.
