If surf, ice beam, flamethrower and thunderbolt were used by 4 pokémon attacking the same thing and the attacks mixed, then ice beam would be melted by surf/flamethrower, flamethrower would be destroyed by surf and thunderbolt would boost surf's power. So they would be the only moves that weren't destroyed. Well, in an anime fight.

Re: Surf vs. Thunderbolt vs. Flamethrower vs. Ice beam 90% of the time I go with a Fire/Grass/Water/Electric/Flying/Wild Card team so for me they're all equal. The Wild Card is an Ice type quite a few times because of the Dragon types I've to face during the game.

Re: Surf vs. Thunderbolt vs. Flamethrower vs. Ice beam All of these are great moves and I use them all because they're convenient and high-powered, but Surf wins it for me. Mostly because of it's HM status, I haven't had one Pokemon Game version where I have not had a Pokemon without Surf as a move. Before Gen V it was the best Water move (Special) that you could teach your Pokemon during the game without having it run out.
Oh, GENV also introduced a new Special, 95BP, 100% Attack btw. It's called Slime Wave and it is a Poison-Type move. Just putting that out there.

I love all four of these moves but went with Thunderbolt because electric is my favorite type.
