Sceptile's monstrously fast, and has a hell of a Special Attack stat. It is, in effect, the grass-type counterpart to Charizard.

I like Jalorda more than Daikenki or Emboar, but it just seems like a missed opportunity, because it could've easily been another awesome grass-type sweeper, but it's a wall, and has a pretty poor movepool at the moment.

    Sceptile FTW.

only in looks, Sceptile with X-cut will turn Jaroda into salad.

one of my pet peeve about Sce[tile has always been its stat distribution. It is suppose to be a physical sweeper but its highest attacks is in SpeAtk, which makes no sense to me.

Actually, it was meant to be a special sweeper, not a physical. In Gen III, most of it's best moves (Dragon Claw, Leaf Blade) were special attacks. This got shifted in the transition to Gen IV and the result is a Pokemon that, like Typhlosion, has the stats of a special attacker but the movepool of a physical one. At least he gets Swords Dance and a fantastic speed stat.

Sceptile is the Charizard of Grass types, of course I choose him. Jaroda had great potential but they kinda ruined it by dropping the part-Dragon type idea at the last minute. It would've been a beast. And they could've easily countered it with Mujimaru's final form being part Ice.

    Sceptile:
    1. My starter in Emerald
    2: Special Sweeper FTW.
    3: Better Movepool.
    4: Higher Speed.
5: Badass Design. That tail is a fricken' tree.

    Jaroda:
    1. Looks cool, at most.
    2: A fast wall.
3: Why in the hell would I want a FAST wall?

The only good thing about Jaroda is Perversity + Leaf Storm..

Sceptile was one of two starters I used in battle (not cartridge, but Shoddy). I've used him to good effect. (The other was Typhlosion. He got people by surprise.)

But Jalorda, back when only Snivy (as is now called) was revealed. I got really excited about the idea of a grass snake. But anyways: Perverse/Antagonist Jalorda is a potent, but limited, sweeper. If he were any more powerful... well, he was made with his limits in mind. He's limited to two types of attacks, Normal and Grass, though good breeders, RNG masters and Shoddy battlers should be able to work the ability. Then again, it's a DW ability: who knows when a Perverse/Antagonist Jalorda will show up?

Regardless, with a 0.5 damage multiplier (not very effective), Leaf Storm still figures as a 105 BP attack against Sceptile. After this, the stat boost kicks in as well.

With that in mind, it's hard to say who would ever win in a fight. Sceptile can play the Detect/Protect game, and Jalorda can do Jalorda things. It's not the right scenario, to dream of a 1 vs. 1--it's better to think of them, as they would most likely be in battle, and to which would be better all-around.

And I can't even say that.

What I can say is this: Jalorda should not be drawing comparisons to Meganium. Jalorda is a dream SubSeeder. And, by the way, walls do like speed. Jalorda has a much more desirable stat distribution than Meganium.

All that said, Perverse/Antagonist Jalorda is overated--and I had a dose of the hype too when I first found out. Herbivore is an overpowered ability, and one that doesn't make too much sense: just because you eat grass, you can absorb every attack that comes your way? Ai ai ai. The ability ruins everything, from Leech Seed to Stun Spore to Spore (although Spore could use a little humbling, I warrant).
Feel free(r) to discuss Battle Strategy with me--I'll discuss anything really.

Besides being a strange (retired) battler with a storied, legendary, mythical, exaggerated, and relatively unknown career, I am also an amateur English B&W anime reviewer. (pachiba, you like?)

    And I take hoedowns seriously.

Sceptile. It's probably my favourite Grass starter after Torterra.

Jalorda. I prefer its design and the idea of being a fast wall makes it more interesting than a typical sweeper.

    That and I like snakes.

I like Sceptile more, so it'll get my vote, but I would like to remind everyone for the millionth time: Antagonist Leaf Storm Jalorda is profoundly deadly. Too bad that deadliness doesn't come with a better design. :P

They're both cool, but I have to go with Sceptile. Sceptile would win in a fight, Jaroda doesn't really have good stats.

No matter what it's ability, Jaroda will still fail against Sceptile in a fight. It would just take too long for it to set up.

Sceptile also looks cooler in my opinion. Jaroda looks weird, even for a snake.
