Thread: Koga VS Janine - The Poison Master?

Up to Gen5, those two were the only official poison-type trainers - both coming from the same family, and both being gym leaders in Gen 1,3 and 2,4 respectively.

Who has the best team? (Original and rematch)
Whose gym was more difficult?
Who was more challenging, overall?
Therefore, who is likely the Poison Master?

Koga would be the more challenging one for me. I think they are both relatively easy because they don't pull off the full potential of the Poison type, but I remember Koga being the more difficult one back in the days of Gen 1 at the Fuchsia Gym.

I breezed through Janine's Pokemon when she became the Gym leader.

Koga, definitely. Janine is the weakest of the Kanto gym leaders, and by the time you get to her, your pokemon are always at least ten levels higher than hers, and probably more. Her rematch pokemon are still really easy to defeat (Bounce on Ariados? Really? I didn't even know Ariados could LEARN Bounce) if you've got a Psychic type and something to deal with Drapion. In-universe, her father was so good that he got promoted to the Elite Four. In RBY, his pokemon were at the same level as Sabrina's, which was a significant step up from anything you've faced before up to that point. His pokemon had high defense, too, and his Muk spammed Minimize to make things worse. Unless you had a Psychic or Ground type, you were kinda screwed if you weren't really overleveled.

Koga, by far. Janine was just a little fly I batted away and squished with ease. D;

I think Koga's gym was much harder to get through but i rly like Janine's team of pokemon. I have to vote Koga for hardest gymleader, but Janine is still my fav of the two.

Both gym leaders are pretty lackluster to face because of how bad poison types are on the offensive side. Plus, Agatha is suppose to be a Ghost master, not a Poison master (curse you, lack of type diversity).
