Kingdra has awesome typing, giving him near-unresisted offensive STAB. And with his equal stats, he can go physical or special without any drop in power. Face it, Altaria is just a flying piece of cotton candy. >.>

~Who has a better appearance and design?
Altaria looks awesome and I have always prefered its art to Kingdras.

~Which do you think is more useful?
Due to its stats, typing, and movepool Kingdra can be used as a mixed, physical, or special sweeper and it is also a bit bulkier without the Ice weakness. Altaria, although it has better speed is weaker in terms of attack and is way more frail. However when you take into account Altarias move pool you can plainly see it is more of a support pokemon, with moves such as: Mist, Sing, Substitute, Sunny Day, Rain Dance, Toxic, Refresh. Altogether there are better support pokemon than Altaria with better typing too. Kingdra is the only dragon that isn't uber known for mixed and special attacking. Attack > Support, Kingdra gets this one.

I have personally used both in their origonal regions and I have to say that if I have to pick between them I would choose Kingdra.

I love and have trained them both, so this was hard for me.

Still, I've got to give this one to Kingdra. I'm sorry, I just think it's more useful overall.

Both Clair's Kingdra and Winona's Altaria really impressed me when I first fought them, but Kindra was the tougher Pokemon for me to deal with. She also has better stats overall I think.

I prefer Altaria's design. And I like it better as its a bird and I love birds.

But I like Kingdra too. It's the more useful of the two, I admit.

I just think Kingdra's horn-thingies look retarded, so I'll take Altaria. Plus, Winona's is a monster. PC.

I have a lv. 100 Altaria on Platinum, and it rocks. I haven't thoroughly used a Kingdra.

Kingdra, just cus it has Ice attacks.

As before I have a powerful Altaria, so it's the one I use (making my choice Altaria).

Kingdra wins in all categories, including design. Altaria is just a puff with a head.

Kingdra. It looks awesome when it walks with you and it was my first pokemon I ever traded.
