Thread: Hoenn Frontier Brains

The purpose of this thread is to determine who the hardest Frontier Brain is from the Hoenn region. Somethings to consider are: Who was the hardest/most annoying to reach? Who has better strategies/attacks? Who has stronger pokemon? Who are you more afraid of? Personally, I never beat the Hoenn Elite Four and I never will. I lost my old Emerald game while I only had one Symbol(luck symbol). Anyways... which of these seven is the most challenging?

Noland is among the hardest due to the random nature of the Battle Factory. If you don't have an answer to almost everything, he's going to destroy you. I learned that the hard way once, where I had a good shot at winning, but as we were down to our last Pokémon, I had a Sceptile out. Then Noland pulled out goddamn Skarmory. That Sceptile didn't have Thunder Punch. You can tell how that went. >_>

Then I would say Spenser, if only because you can only manage switch-outs in the Battle Palace. I never tried the facility as it needs some serious planning of Natures and Moves, and never did too well the few times I tried it. I imagine Spenser must be insanely difficult, as the CPU isn't exactly limited by the way the Palace works.

The hardest to reach is easily Brandon. The Battle Pyramid is insanely exhausting, and unless you're awfully lucky or find lots of Items, you're going to have a very hard time. The only offset is that Brandon has easily the worst Teams out of all the Brains (All Regis are weak to Fighting. Of course, this was a time without Close Combat, so it was still considerably hard, especially with the Regis' high Defenses. All Birds are weak to Rock, two of them being 4x weak to it).

The rest have much less difficult Facilities and gimmicks. The Battle Pike sucks if your luck sucks, but that shouldn't be that troublesome, as Lucy's Teams aren't too tough either. I defeated her even when my whole party had been put to sleep in the room before hers. The other Facilities are fairly easy.

I'll have to pick Spenser. I managed to get a Silver Symbol from every other Frontier Brain at least once, but I never even reached Spenser. I didn't try as hard as I could have, yes, but I bet all the efforts would be easily undermined, so I gotta hand it to both Spenser and the Battle Palace.

Spenser. It took me a lot of tries to finally beat him. Normally, I'd dislike that place due to the long time I spent there, but in this case, I actually had fun. And when I beat Spenser, it felt even better.

Lucy. Just freaking getting to her. Ugh. It's such torture.

Brandon. I love how he goes "NOOOOOOO" in the anime.

And he owns both the Legendary Birds and the Regis.

Ahhhhh... I have such a bad history with the frontier. Lucy was a pain to get to because I would always get poisoned on the way and I could never figure out how to defeat Tucker. I would have beat Spencer if I had known he had a Lapras. My Swampert ended up being the last pokemon I had and it wouldn't use Earthquake!
Spencer ended up Horn Drilling my Swampert, thus, crushing my dreams.

Pike Queen Lucy was the most challenging to me, because her Shuckle was incredibly sturdy and couldn't be defeated.

By their given personalities and designs, I like Noland the best, followed by Spencer and Anabel.

As far as the facilities, though, I prefer the Dome, Palace and Arena.

Lucy. Your team gets tortured in the way to her, and then she has a team designed to slowly torture your team and then kill it. Specially with her's Milotic's mirror coat.

I've never actually beaten one of Hoenn's Frontier Brains since back then I was an impatient little kid. I've gotten to Lucy twice, ended up being beaten by her last Pokemon BOTH times. She was fairly easy to me aside from her Shuckle with its damn defenses.

But from what I've heard Spenser is insanely hard to beat since you can't actually command your Pokemon to do what you want them to. I believe that since I've never made it two battles into the Battle Palace, so I pick Spenser.

I wish Anabel was a Psychich-type specialist like she was in the anime. But also she was the best in the anime for me. That's why I voted for her.
Lucy wasn't that hard enough in the game imo. A steel type that can learn powerful moves is the obvious solution.
Brandon was the hardest I'd say. I'm more of a dragon-type guy and with Regice and Articuno, he was a tough nut to crack.
