Thread: Grass starters vs Water starters vs Fire starters

Iv seen alot of starter vs starter threads but now all of them in there types are up agenst each other!

So witch one do you like more?

Well, they all have their ups and downs. In battle none of them would win; it's a triangle of strengths and weaknesses. Water has the best typing though, and is improved by Swampert's and Empoleon's second typing.

Design-wise, they also have pros and cons because each category has 5 starters with each one having a different appeal.

Which do I prefer? I like all types, to be honest and the Grass-Fire-Water triangle isn't any less appealing. So I really prefer the overall Pokemon than to a specific typing.

If I looked through my history as a Pokemon player, though, it seems that Grass has won; I believe that I had/have the following Starters:

Totodile (Originally Gold, now HeartGold)
Mudkip (Emerald)
Chimchar (Diamond)
Turtwig (Platinum)
Charmander (HeartGold Kanto Starter)
Treecko (HeartGold Hoenn Starter)
Tsutarja/Smugleaf (Soon-to-be White)

I probably had a Torchic in Emerald before restarting with Mudkip, don't know if that counts, but if it did I would have a close tie between all starters type-wise. I also plan on getting a Squirtle in the near future, which should balance out my starter preferences :).

In short, can't choose. 'Indecisive' OPTION WANTED.

Fire starters for me :D

Water. I've had 3 water starters - Mijumaru, Totodile and Mudkip. They all turned out to be great.

The Fire Starters jumped the shark when the monkey copied Blaziken's typing. Then it landed full on on the other side with the pig. Aside from that, Charizard and Typhlosion are and will likely stay NU Pokemon. This means that the only good Fire Starter is Blaziken. Definitely the worst of the bunch.


Grass Starters have Meganium in NU but everyone else in OU. With Droughtales around, Venusaur may jump up to OU and likely will end up in BL at least. Sceptile is also very useful in OU and Meganium has her niche roles in UU. Torterra likes playing in the sand but really shines in UU and Jaroda + Perversity = awesome. Definitely the middle of the road here, but my personal favorite. My vote goes to these guys.

Though if we're being honest, the best of the bunch is clearly Water. Aesthetically, you got turtle with cannons, Samurai sea lion, Godzilla and pimpin' penguin... oh, and Swampert. Statistically speaking, they've got the most members in OU, the best type combo and the best movepools. These guys are definitely the best (and my runner ups).

Hmm... let's do this logically.

Gen I: Squirtle
Gen II: Totodile
Gen III: Torchic
Gen IV: Chimchar
Gen V: Mijumaru

So I prefer water types more so than fire types... and grass types have been basically given the middle finger.

Water starters gets the vote.

Fire-
Charizard-BL or OU, depends on how common rocks becomes and if droughtales gets banned or not. Dream world Ability- 10/10

Typlosion-NU Or UU. Dream world Ability- 8/10


Infernape-OU. Dream world Ability- 8/10


Blazakin-OU or BL. Dream world Ability- 10/10


Water
Blastoise-UU or NU. Dream world Ability- 8/10

Feraligator-UU or NU Dream world Ability- 7/10

Swampert-OU or BL. Dream world Ability- 7/10

Empoleon-Dunno, never really saw or used this guy much, but maby UU. Dream world Ability- 6/10 (kinda gimmiky)

Grass

Venasaur-OU BL Or UU, depends if droughtales gets banned. Dream world Ability- 10/10


Megamagium-NU. Dream world Ability- 6/10


Sceptile- Never saw or used him much, or I dont really know
Dream world Ability- 4/10 (kinda gimmiky)

Torterra-UU
Dream world Ability- 6/10

So, according to my predictions, fire may do the best competitvley. In this hyper offese, they will do well. The Bulky gen 1 and 3 starters will go down in usage do to the lack of stall. Feraligator is basicly outclassed, and I never really saw/used empoleon. Venasaur with clorophyll is fairly viable, and depends if droughtales is banned. Dunno much bout sceptile, but torterra could reak some havok on the lower tiers, especially if venasaur is OU.

Water starters are the best!
They ruined the fire starters after three fire/fighting types...

Pretty much this for me as well, though I went with Water for the poll because of my first Mon being Totodile and because Water has the least number of weaknesses of the group.

I'll go with Grass. Though there are only 2 of each starter of a particular type that I really like.

Up until this generation (I totally want a samurai otter), I have always picked the fire starter. Always. I absolutely love the designs and concepts of them, not to mention, Fire-type's just cool. Definitely my Pokébros.

Oh, and grass is in second place. While I mentioned that I'm going to be choosing the Water-Type this time, I significantly like the grass starters more than I do the water starters in general. So yeah.

Fire>Grass>Water. ...!

It's no surprise who I chose. The unloved Grass type. I love them, despite what many people say about their competitive ability. I don't evn care about that NU and OU crap, I just play the game with the Pokémon I like. I don't know why, but Grass starters have a special place in my heart. Fire types are way overrated, and I'm fine with water. Grass Pokémon are, and will always be, the best choice for me.

Grass have the awesome Sceptile. So they get my vote.
