Thread: Giovanni vs Cyrus

Two of the biggest, baddest villains in the series [going by video game canon here]. But who do you think is the most villainous? Giovanni, the mob-boss of the Pokemon world, that mysterious Ground Gym Leader who may have had a hand in the development of Mewtwo? Or perhaps Cyrus, the genius, very logical fellow who favored knowledge over emotion, seeking to use that knowledge in an ambitious attempt to reconstruct the universe.

Personally, I think Cyrus is more evil, because of how crazy and far-gone he is. While I agree with his initial ideas about humans becoming cruel, and the world needing a change, I think that forcibly removing crystals from the lake fairies [who, by the way, gave humans their good qualities in the first place] and enslaving the creation dragons to do his bidding is way too extreme a plan.

Giovanni has always been in it for the money and the power, though. But while his plans were criminal from the start, I feel like at least he knew when to stop.

Sorry for such a dark thread, but I'm curious to hear what the rest of you folks think.

Cyrus. He wanted to destroy the world to make his own. Can't beat that.

Forgot to mention, Cyrus' Team Galactic Grunts were all pretty er... dumb. And not dumb in the brawny thug way that Team Rocket is, I mean, just very gullible and not seeming to know what they were fighting for. It was like, all they knew was that they were going to make the world a better place. I guess none of them bothered to ask Cyrus HOW he was going to do it.

You know, I just worte a fanfiction about the two of them making a team together and their conflicting ideas on how to control ultimate power. I must say that I think cyrus is the worst because of his ideals for the world

Absolutely, Cyrus gets my vote.

Cyrus lives in his own little reality, and is gone beyond redemption. Forget the legendary dragons, that man would destroy the world if he had access to military weapons. I see him as being so callous towards fellow human beings, regardless of how much they suffered. In fact, i see him personally putting them through said suffering.

That sounds like an interesting read!

They should really consider making a game in which there is interaction between previous antagonists. =)

i say giovoni.
while Cyrus' plan was more destructive, his ideals about humanity and intention to "fix" them were in good intention, he was just Zubatshit insane. I havn't played Platnum, so i may be out of the story, but i think Cyrus was trying to make the world better, while Giovoni did his schemes for ONLY his own personal gain.

It's not too good but it raises some interesting points. I just want to know, does anybody here think that they could work together, although they have extreme differences or do you think that they would fall apart quickly?

Giovanni gets the coolness points but as a villain, Cyrus is muvh better.

Based on what the games have given us thus far, i would say no. They are after two completely different things, and as such, it would be very difficult for them to work together even if they wanted to. I see Giovanni getting regularly upset at Cyrus, who doesn't even notice Giovanni's annoyance.

well i can't do it, but i'm with Cyrus in spirit.

Going by the games Cyrus, but in the anime it's much closer. Voted for Giovanni because I like him and Team Rocket more.

Cyrus is a little too crazy for my tastes. Giovanni, meanwhile, remains the series' most purely awesome villain. On the evilness factor, Giovanni knew EXACTLY what he was getting into, and that it was wrong; Cyrus thought he was doing the right thing (and for all we know he might have been). I'll take the crime lord over the whack job with the god complex.

Giovanni, because he is awesome.
