Thread: Gengar vs Chandelure

Before this, I chose to use Gengar's Japanese name for the sake of consistency, and the fact that his name is similar to his English name helps to.

Anyway, the newest Ghost is also a final stage like Gengar, as he/she has two previous stages of evolutions to go through first. Not only that, this Ghost has a HUGE Special Attack, reaching a Base Special Attack of 145!! Although its Speed is only Base 80. Compared to Gangar, who has a Base Special Attack of 130, but Base 110 Speed.

I think I would have a hard time choosing between the two without making sacrifices, but I would welcome our new Ghost and choose Shanderaa. But I think I will cheat and choose both.

Shanderaa. I never really liked Gengar.

Shanderaa+Scarf+Shadow Ball=Win

I love Shanderaa.

Meh. Until I read Pokédex entries and the likes, Shanderaa is a candle (I know it's not a candle, but I can't remember the correct name to that thing :<) while Gengar is a mischievous ghost, as well as a speed devil, also it has that awesome grin. Take a guess.

It's called a chandelier.

Anyway, I like Shanderaa for some reason. I think it's probably the typing. Ghost/Fire for gods sake.

and one of my faves of 5th gen But I'm going to choose Gengar :'3
since it's always been one of my fave Ghost pokemon since I was a kid

Gengar. Shanderaa has awesome typing and is probably going on my White team, but Gengar is more badass and has been a favorite of mine longer.

I personally think Shanderaa.

Shandera, definitely. It's slower, but it can surprise Gengar with a Scarf. Also, that Special Attack is just something to be REALLY afraid of, especially if it can pack Overheat on a Scarf set.

Plus, an onibi chandelier? Yes, please!

Also, is it me, or does it look a bit like a Fire-type Drifloon?

As usual for me, I'm not caring about which is more useful in battle.
Gengar is one of the first Pokemon revealed. Remember the intro of RBY and the first episode of the anime. Also the first fully-evolved Ghost. This makes Gengar a somewhat special Pokemon.
So while Shanderaa has an interesting typing and battle potential, it can't beat Gengar in terms of charisma.
