I had an interesting idea. What if you took Generations I and II and pitted them in battle against Generations III and IV? I'm not just talking Pokémon, either. I mean trainers, Gym Leaders, Elite Four members, and evil teams. Who would win in what would undoubtedly be an earth shattering war?

EDIT-Since Ryuutakeshi pointed it out, let's also assume that it was only the Pokémon from each generation fighting. So only The Hoenn and Sinnoh Pokémon would be fighting for that generation.

I personally am throwing my vote to Generations III and IV because they are larger regions with more diverse Pokémon. Sorry, I and II...

I left Isshu and Gen V out because I haven't played it and is therefore irrelevant.

(note, the remakes Pokémon FireRed, Pokémon LeafGreen, Pokémon HeartGold and Pokémon SoulSilver would be with Generations I and II)

I say gen 3 and 4 win. Just out of complete badassery.

Generation 3 and 4. The graphics are way better and the Pokemon are more original.

Gen 3 and 4 are the best so far. They win in terms of Pokemon design, Pokemon usability, region design, gameplay features, graphics, etc.

Assuming that we can't count the remakes in for G.III or G.IV, I'm... still going to throw my votes in with the latter two. Sorry, but they took everything that the originals had and improved it. G.III lost some minor features but make up for it in other areas, and G.IV did nothing but improve on the franchise. G.II always holds a special place for nostalgia, though.

Tough choice (very tough) but I say Gen 1 and 2.

III & IV for sure.

I'm not one of those nostalgic nuts. Generations 3 and 4 surpass 1 and 2 in every way. It's no contest.

As far as Pokemon go, I do prefer the first two generations to the two latter ones.

As far as trainers, the region, etc. go, Generations 3 and 4 again destroy the first two.

I like Gen. II best. SoulSilver really got me into it, because I never got to play GS. Every generation has its own pieces of epicness.

Gen 1-Best music
Gen 2-Best landmarks, Pokémon, and after-gameplay (how much you can do after beating the game)
Gen 3-2nd best music and landmarks, best mapping
Gen 4-Best training spots and sidequests

I think Generation 3 and 4 are better. I don't really have much of a reason this time, but still, the newer ones definitely improve on the old ones.
