Thread: Gary VS Blue

I saw a thread sawing who would win, Red or Ash, so I thought who's the best out of the rivals?

Tough to decide... they're both asshats, but I think Blue accomplished more (briefly became Champion, then became a Gym Leader). So I guess I'll vote for Blue.

Blue for me. I liked how he used different types at the Gym. And the actual gym re-design was pretty epic.

I like his PokeSpe characterisation as well, whom is incidentally called Green.

Blue. Because gym leaders are more awesome than professors.

They're both called Green in Japanese, lol. Localization, man. Learn them.

AS for the topic at hand, I personally think that there's no way anyone in their right mind could possibly vote for the kid who's never won a competition worth noting in his life (and serves the tedious, overdone, and poorly orchestrated archetype of a typical kids' show rival), and essentially was booted off what I deem among the 5 worst cartoons ever created. At least Blue both manages to become the champion and is still an actual challenge for anyone who doesn't trade over his 100-ers over from RSE. Hell, even with his nerf'd team in GSC and HGSS (pre-rematch), he at least offers a fight.

I'll go with Blue. Gary might have been a badass once, but he, like Professor Oak, gave up on battling to become a scientist. Blue, however, is one of the toughest battles in Gold, Silver, Crystal, HeartGold, and SoulSilver. He was a champion at one point. Blue Oak FTW.

You do realize that the meme is actually associated with Blue right? and not Gary right?

Gary, since I'm a fan of the anime. Also because I hated Blue as a rival with a passion. Everytime I met up with Blue in my FireRed I wanted to punch him square in the face. Blue's okay in GSHGSS, but meh.

Funny, I always thought every encounter with Gary in those few episodes I actually bothered to watch just set me off the edge...

Especially his stupid voice. And that ain't limited to the 4Krap dub, either.

Blue. Possibly the best ingame team IMO. Besides Red.

Blue. Gary never lived up to the dickishness that was Blue. And he never got to be champ or a gym leader. And he never really did anything. All I remember him for was "Gary was here. Ash is a loser"

Te be honest, Gary over Blue. I mean, Blue is, and has remained, an ass-hat.(Not to mention the fact that Blue added frustration the first time I had to beat pokémon blue. Which makes him more of an ass-hat. XD)

At least Gary changed at some point. Plus, it's GARY MOTHER-F*CKING OAK! (I had to say that.)
