Thread: Ferrothorn vs Forretress

I've got a soft spot for ol' Forretress. I always liked him.

I like his design, I like his movepool and I like his competitive role. It's not that I don't like Ferrothorn, it's just that I prefer Forretress.

Who's the more useful of the duo?
Ferrothorn, better attacks and typing to me.

Who would win between each other?
Ferrothorn, better moves.

Who's the one with the good looks/design?
Ferrothorn, much more cooler looking.

Who's the ONE for you?
Ferrothorn, nice typing, cool design and I've never liked forretress anyway.

I personally use Forretress over Ferrothorn.

Forretress
- Rapid Spin
- Toxic Spikes, which Forrethorn wishes it had.
- No fighting weakness
- Sturdy can prevents ohkoes so Forre can generally always lay out hazards.
- Payback is generally its best attack for the ghost switch in.
- Forre can switch into Ferro and set up
-Better typing.
-Volt Switch, slow leave very useful.
-Heavy Slam, Explosion

Ferrothorn
- More resistances, Water and Electric especially
- Can hit hard with Power Whip, unlike Forre who can't boast a 120atk stab
- Physical attackers do not enjoy Iron Barbs
- Superior Speical Defences to Forre
- Able to cripple pokemon with T-wave or Leech Seed
- Excellent rain check and can take hits from certain sand sweepers

Forrethorn would be knocked out by any Fire Move, Forretress wouldn't thanks to Sturdy which helps it set up. So, I pick Forretress plus points for Brock owning one.

Forretress because you can trade a Forretress for a Beldum in HGSS with STEVEN XDD

I believe Nutrey is a better Pokémon battle-wise.
But its design seems quite bland, plus the combination of Grass and Steel is not interesting at all; To me, of course.

Foretros on other hand, always had my interest.
Neat design (I wonder what is inside of the shell), good type match-up. Plus, Takeshi has one. It gets my vote.

I've used Ferrothorn on almost all of my competetive teams, besides that both have an interesting design, i do however have to say that i simply like Ferrothorn more. It's by no means one of my favourites, but he's okay.

id say forretress just because of rapid spin and works better with most teams

I don't like both so i'll vote Forretress because I feel sorry for it.

Ferrothorn. Better design, unique typing, and also Gen 5!

Forretress suffers the not-so-great-design most Gen 2 Pokemon in my opinion share. Never a big fan of the Gen 2 Pokes, to be honest.
