Thread: Espeon vs. Umbreon

So, which one do you prefer?
Espeon, because I trained one once and it was pretty good.
Which one looks better?
Espeon. I like the mystic look it has.
Which one is more useful?
Depends. Espeon is good as a sweeper, while Umbreon is a great wall.
Which one would win in a fight?
Umbreon, because it resists Espeon's STAB. Maybe an Espeon with Wish, Signal Beam, Fake Tears and Charm could win though. It varies depending on the moveset.

I voted for Espeon, because I think it has one of the best design of every Pokémon.

Umbreon all the way. And not to mention, but it's my favourite Pokémon alongside Suicune. I love its design, its nature and everything. It just fits me.

I like them both, but Umbreon I've preferred a bit more.

I don't play competitively, and find Espeon much more useful during story mode and post-game events.

In my opinion, it would probably be close, especially if Espeon had Focus Blast and a healing move. Honestly, I think it depends more on luck than skill in a battle like this, and on Umbreon's movesets.

But remember Magic Bounce, everybody! It's a great ability especially if the Umbreon knows, say, Toxic.

Though in terms of looks, I say Espeon.

Espeon thanks to Magic Bounce. Umbreon isn't bad now, it just doesn't have much uniqueness to it as compared to other dark types. Espeon, however is a go-to Psychic for many (myself included).

Which one looks better?
Umbreon looks a little cooler to me, because it doesn't look too stereotypically "mean" dark that's now way overdone in the series. Espeon looks a bit too much like a creepy Siamese cat for my liking.

Which one is more useful?
Espeon is definitely more useful now thanks to Magic Bounce. It is hugely powerful in the meta as a counter to almost all the overused moves (stealth rock, toxic, etc) and in-game it is faster and is better offensively. Umbreon's time to shine was in the 2nd and 3rd gens, but it has sadly declined.

Really?

Overall it's Espeon. It just has the better use ingame and competitively. In a fight, even with Focus Blast, c'mon. But Espeon is better overall than Umbreon.

Umbreon again.I don`t like Espeon`s India-cocky smug look.Umbeon sports a heavy defense in an elegant package.

It`s a tie.Espeon is a good special sweeper while Ubreon is a good as annoyer.

Umbreon has the type advantage and a better movepool so it`s pretty obvious.

I never used Espeon however; I always picked Umbreon due to having high defense which is something I like to have on my team. I also like Dark type Pokemon better then Physic.

Umbreon has a better looking design. I also like the shiny form as well when it's yellow circles turn blue.

Umbreon due to the fact of the defense and can take some good hits.

Dark vs Physic? It's defiantly Umbreon who will win against the fight.

Umbreon is awesome, Espeon is great too but I simply prefer the serene beauty of the black Eevelution.

I've always preferred Umbreon but i've never raised one and i'm only now raising an Espeon for the first time. From what i've heard about both and seen with Espeon i'm gonna say Umbreons the better of the two. I like my Pokemon to be tough and able to take hit after hit.

- Tie. Like I said, Umbreon is a tank, but underestimating Calm Mind / STAB Psychic with Espeons high stats is the last thin you should do.

Oce I didn't like either of 'em,
but then I used Espeon...Then I tried Umbreon...And I just love them!
The battle could go either way also...
Umbreon can use Curse to boost his DEF and use even pursuit to destroy Espeon with low DEF's...
On the other hand Espeon is much faster and Calm Minding enough it could easily win with Signal Beam.
They can heal the damage with Morning Sun and Moonlight...
Both of 'em also has access to Substitute so...
Argh! This hurts my little brains...

Ok, I pick Umbreon. Why?
After a long thinking this is what I came up with.
Umbreon is defencive and has better HP's too, so it can take a signal beam while using curse.
Since it's slower than Espeon it should be able to do some serious damage to Espeon (with low HP and DEF) with Payback or Assurance.
That's what I think, no need to correct me if I'm wrong.
