Thread: Dragonite vs Salamence

Tough choice, in all honesty.

Bagon VS Dratini = Bagon
Shelgon VS Dragonair = TIE
Salamence VS Dragonite = I'd have to go with Dragonite on this one.

I do think that both their designs are great, and the moveset is decently good. Also, I'm quite nostalgic and I love Kanto, but Kanto is tied with Hoenn. In competitive battling, Salamence would be better. But, I still voted for Dragonite.

i choose dragonite, cause its kind dragon, can learn a status condition moves(like hipnosis)

I prefer Dragonite. I like the design better, plus I just like it more in general.... *it's cute, okay?*
Plus, it's a 1st generation pokemon, and I tend to choose my old faves.

I would hope it would be dragonite, but I think salamence may win. I lose to those things alot.

But DRAGONITE IS STILL MY FAVE OF THE TWO!!!!

I choose Salamence because it's strong-looking compared to Dragonite's goofy appearance, its evolution line and its moves.

I prefer Dragonite solely for its looks

I love my Salamence. My Dragonite, not so much. Salamence gets so much mileage in battles until it's banned. I was never able to use Dragonite well. So... to me, Salamence wins.

I prefer Salamence, tougher looking and is stronger though if dragonite used Ice Punch it's game over.. but I am still voting for Mence

Dragonite. It clearly is cooler...and more original. I never really liked Salamence.

They are both supreme beasts, to be sure. But whereas Salamence has it beat in power, Dragonite is too diverse. It would be a fight to the bitter end, but edge:Dragonite. Besides, you can't go wrong with the classics.

Visually, Dragonite is just a fusion of Barney and Charizard which is ridiculous for a dragon. Salamence is a real dragon here now with teeth and frills and everything. One point for Salamence. If they would have a battle, Salamence would win with it's speed and power, but if Dragonite has a Haban berry or something like that then the battle would turn upside down. One point for Dragonite and one point for Salamence. As for competitive battling, Salamence has decent stats but lil' ol' Barnizard has a wider movepool than Salamence which gives it an advantage to OHKO most water and ice foes with Thunder or Thunder Punch. One point for Dragonite and Salamence.

Sorry Dragonite but if you could work on your appearances more I'm sure You'll score some more points AND you're not the worst dragon, you should see that flower headed Hydreigon! But at the end I voted for Salamence.

I vote Salamence with probably the opposite reasoning most people did.

Dragonite has the better looks. It looks far cooler, has a more appealing design etc. I think being the more balanced makes it better in battle, and of course it carries elemental punches and other great diversity of moves.
Anyone who thinks Dragonite is "Barney the dinosaur" either just don't see how its design is good, or watched Barney the Dinosaur.

Salamence's concept though, it appeals me how it wants wings and just gets them like a boss. Besides, it isn't that much of a generic ferocious dragon, that's Garchomp, and I hate Garchomp.
Salamence is... tough, wrecks things when angered, but ultimately is a good fellow.

Also, Salamence suits me more in how I play, which involves setting up screens and other forms of support.

Salamence for me. I have both on my team and Dragonite is good but Salamence is just a bit better.
