Double-Edge<VS>VoltTackle<VS>BraveBird<VS>FlareBlitz<VS>WoodHammer
Okay, everyone seems to be doing move comparisons lately, so I thought I'd join the trend.
Here we have five of the strongest recoil moves in the game. They all have 15PP, 120 Power, and are all 100% accurate. They also all have a recoil of 1/3 of the damage done to the opponent.

Thoughts and Observations (read optional):
In contrast, though, each one has a differing type: Normal, Electric, Flying, Fire, and Grass respectively. Volt Tackle and Fire also have a 10% chance of either paralyzing or burning the target. While Brave Bird can now hit non-adjacent targets in a multi-battle (GenerationV introduced). Double-Edge and Wood Hammer both have Pokemon that have the ability RockHead, negating the recoil damage of the move. Finally, while many Pokemon learn Double-Edge on levelup, only some can learn BraveBird, FlareBlitz, and WoodHammer. Subsequently, Volt Tackle is the signature move of the Pichu line and can only be learned by the family.
Those are my observations on each move, and after thinking about it my choice would have to be: Volt Tackle. It is the only recoil move that I have used alongside Double-Edge and Brave Bird. But there's just something satisfying about Pikachu taking down huge Pokemon with it's signature move, and the anime's portrayal of it in action is awesome :).
~ Didn't include Afro-Break because it is essentially the same as Double-Edge only it can only be learned by Buffalon and I have no picture of the move in action.
~ Pictures are kinda unfair, some animated and some aren't. If you really don't know what they look like you can look it up on YouTube. These videos should have them (in there somewhere..): DPPt Move Animations 1/3 the other parts are in the sidebar, but I doubt anyone will actually go looking for these.
~Wow, long post. I must make the longest introductions in my Contest Hall threads.
