Which is the best minigame?
I do love Pokethlon, but I'm gonna' vote for Contests, because they were pure awesomeuntil the Sinnoh games.
And Musical? Meh.

I claimed this badass. Yeah, fear me.
Contests. Though the Sinnoh ones sucked.
Pokethlon, for a little bit of effort, I can get the good items I'm missing while playing SS.

I like pokeatholon the best. All them games were fun! :P

Pokethlon. Not classy, nor elegant, but way better! :B
Pokethlon was great and contests where just boring had all most no rewards
Pokethlon. It´s much cooler and entretaining than contests and musical.

Is the musical a Gen V thing? Never heard of it...anywhere...
I liked the Sinnoh contests, so I voted for that.
Birdsong - An exploration of the human psyche at a point of being highly unstable, yet stable enough to recognise its insanity. Also officially the second-best piece of dark fiction of this year's Winter awards season and Fic of the Month of March (and technically April) 2013. Interested? You should be. Give it a look.
Also, I play Animal Crossing: New Leaf. If you don't like it, tough, and if you do, let me know. It'll be the closest thing I'll do to socialising this summer!
I found Pokéthlon to be a more rewarding experience and a better side game in the literall term of the word.
Sure, the first step was similar on both: you got the best Pokémon possible (in the case of Pokéthlon, based on the stats; contests, based on movesets) and gave it Pokéblocks/Berry/Juices, created by blending items you had to collect, to improve its stats and give you a little advantage.
After that, they give an entirely different approach.
Contests, with exception for the pre-appeal mini-games introduced in Gen IV, were very strategical, which in my opinion was a doble-edged sword; the game itself already involves strategy, so the "break element" of the sidegame was ruined, but it doesn't mean it was a bad experience for those who don't mind the lack of a different gameplay.
Now, my biggest problem with contests is that they require a quite a lot of luck, which was kind of frustrating, but that aside they weren't so bad.
Pokéthlon, on the other hand, doesn't suffer from the same double edged sword; they are very interactive and fast paced, a good break from the main game, a true side game. Also, at least in my opinion, skill won over luck most of the time, which was great.
Musicals, I don't know. Sincerely I find it silly to make polls with elements not widely known against those we are familiar with.
TL;DR: Pokéthlon rules the world and beyond.
Even though the Pokeathlon is beyond fun, I just had to vote for contests. Contests have that strategical element that the others don't have and I've always took time trying to win the various ranks. This mostly applies to the Sinnoh contests for me, as I was never really into Hoenn's. I just wish you could jam the opponent's Pokemon in Super Contests.
Musicals are catchy and all that, but you don't really do anything. This is coming from someone who has the game. Trust me, very boring...
