Thread: Cloyster VS Forretress

thats right it's the two most annoyingly awesome wall/annoyer/spiker/tokicspikers from pokemon!

Right, now cloyster has the better move pool of the two and more offensive attacks.

But to counter that forretress has more defenses and a more defense based movepool plus access to explosion for those do or die situations.


I am neutral in this situation so my personal bias will not affect my decision. I'm gonna go for cloyster for speed, better Sp. atk for icebeam, and sheer retroness.

which will you choose?

I guess I'd go with Forretress. I like it's speed is slower, so it's more helpful Gyro Ballin'. It's steel moves are really helpful, and it learns a few electric ones too. Plus I like bagworms.

I think that forretress. He, last time I checked, has access to all the entry hazards. Spikes, stealth rock, and toxic spikes.

i wasnt denying that he did i was just listing the main attacks. I do however agree on gyro ball so that puts forretress right up with cloyster on the normally-effective attack standards against eachother

Forretress for great support as he can use spikes,toxic spikes and stelth rock and has great def so he can wall to and can hit hard with counter,gyro ball.

Forretress, I like its movepool and appearance better.

I prefer Cloyster, due to amazing defense, Skill Link, and design.

Which is a very predictable strategy for that matter than I guess it will end being not much used at all. Cloyster is weak to Stealth Rock, takes passive damage from Spikes, Sandstorm, has bad Sp. Defense, is neutral to Bullet Punch (Scizor), the new ExtremeSpeed (+2 priority), weak to Vacuum Wave, Mach Punch (Technician Breloom, to say something), is not immune to Toxic Spikes and has pitiful HP, so if you can pull off the strategy, it's because your opponent is bad at predicting something so crystal clear, couldn't get rid of a Focus Sash or lacks priority.

My vote goes to Forretress because of its competitive usefulness and design, though a defensive Cloyster is also pretty good if played well and it's cool to look at.

you have a good point. Though, i've always found forretress's explosion somewhat annoying

IMO, Cloyster has a slightly better design, but Forretress has better typing, as well as a more comprehensive movepool.

Cloyster. I thought he evolved in gastly a long time ago. Plus he's just awesome.
